Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here. Food was excellent. Each dish is a portion for two - so we were able to share an appetizer and main. And with a bottle of wine the price was extremely fair. The atmosphere was relaxed. We...didn't have a reservation so at 9pm there was a short wait. Then we entered the restaurant, were given menus, and by the time we were seated we were ready to order. The food came quickly and service was excellent. Highly recommend if you want top quality food in a relaxed and rustic atmosphere.More

The restaurant can get quite busy by locals. The menu is based on local dishes. It is not great but represent what locals eat but can get similar food in several other places around the city.

I would not recommend this place. The service is excruciatingly slow. The food arrived tasteless. The desert consisted of a canned peach. One of the worst meals we’ve had In 2 weeks in Argentina

- This restaurant is a definition of a tourist trap. Just look at the photos of dishes they served us and the amount we paid (22000 pesos per person or $65 using blue rate). - For us this was probably the worst dinner experience ever....Food was not tasty, it was served cold and inappropriately, they didn’t even bring all the dishes listed in the dinner menu. - We ended in this restaurant as it was open on Christmas eve and serving Christmas dinner. The restaurant had really good review score on Google, when we came there it was half empty and they offered us a table. - We were foolish enough to not seriously consider the bad reviews from other customers (there were many red flags). My guess is that most of the very positive reviews are fake. - Regarding waiters I can say that junior staff was really trying to be nice but they gave the impression they were aware that they’re part of a scam and were not comfortable with it. - Senior waiter that accepted us to the restaurant was not friendly at all and she asked to pay in advance the full amount before being seated. - On the positive side the Malbec and Chardonnay wines served were really good, and also after we pointed that it started raining they closed the roof over the patio. We also liked the informal and relaxed atmosphere in the patio at the beginning however it was quickly forgotten once the terrible food arrived.More

Very nice sit down restaurant with all the trimmings, good food, great service, great wine menu. Right across from the Italian Plaza. The locals swarm the place so consider calling for reservations if you are planning to be there during prime eating hours.

Came here on our hostel’s recommendation and so glad we did - this restaurant was AMAZING! Felt just like home cooking - we started with a provolone/tomato/olive dish that we expected to be like caprese but was more like a fried pizza - DELICIOUS! Their...plates are made for sharing so we got the pork shoulder with sweet potatoes and fried eggs - it was awesome. The salad is also delicious and everything pairs well together. Ended with some “just right” sized desserts - flan and peaches with cream. Service was great even though it was packed busy! Highly recommend!More

Place and food is very cozy. Not a lot of options for food and drinks but they really attend the goal of being a grandmothers kind of food. Simple but good

We visited Fuente y Fonda twice. First on Sunday - the place was absolutely full but they managed to find two free chairs for us in the common table. Once you step through the door you feel very much welcomed! The moment we were seated,...we got freshly baked bread with some aubergine spread and water. The food was absolutely amazing! We tried Provalona - baked cheese with tomatoes and olives (mouthwatering) and a Shepard’s pie. After this first visit we knew we have to be back! Today we visited the place for the second time and were not disappointed! The watermelon/tomatoes/mozzarella salad was very refreshing and tasty. The atmosphere is laid back with the waiters making sure you do not leave the place until you’re full! We ended our delightful lunch with some flan (amazing) and delicious coffee! We wish we found this place earlier because there is so much more to try! Thank you :)More

Went here the evening we got back from Aconcagua. We arrived late but the restaurant was not only open but busy. We had a seat in a side room and started sinking a couple of well deserved beers . . . . and before we...knew it, we had a table. From our perspective, the meal was not expensive due to the difficult state of the Argentinean economy and the exchange rate. The food was therefore good value. It wasn't haute cuisine my any measure but it was tasty and well presented. Nice atmosphere and decent service too.More

Dont understand the rating...food was good but not great by any measure. Our waiter was superb...no English but delightful manner and service ethos. The front desk guy was plain bad mannered and disinterested. A pity! Food was Ok but not memorable. There are other equally...interesting and good restaurants in Mendoza with better food and nicer front of house!More

We were in town for a week and tried all the best places recommended to us, but without a doubt Fuente Y Fonda was the most outstanding! No frills, just great service and awesome food! The spinach ravioli was the best I’ve ever eaten!

Yummy food and ENORMOUS servings - they aren't exaggerating when they suggest you share one meal. While the service from some - especially one man who spoke English - was excellent, the service from others was gruff and unpleasant - perhaps they didn't like the...fact our Spanish was very basic - but we were trying our best. The deserts were delicious.More
