It is important to know that you will not find the Buenos Aires empanadas: The size of the pie is traditionally small, very tasty, filled with, beef, beef jerky, chicken, tripe and more. Prices are low, so if you're worried about the size of the...More

Somehow the empanadas I tried in other South American countries were a lot bigger than Argentinean ones. The location is a bit far from central and in a small space there are like 7 or 8 stores selling empanadas. I didn't check the price of...More

This isn't a single restaurant, it's a large terrace, or patio, surrounded by kiosks, each selling their own versions of empanadas, tamales, and humitas. Your main task is really just to decide whose section you're going to sit in, as, as soon as you start...More

I found it a little overwhelming to be dragged around by the waiters as soon as I stepped in, so be prepared for it. I tried the empanadas in three different spots. By far the best ones were the first two places to the left....More

After reading a blog, we heard about this place. Picture not so much a restaurant, but a seating area with several empanada outfits surrounding it. We came early, so there wasn't so much of a tussle over us. However, as the afternoon progressed, the ladies...More

It's a lot of fun eating at El Patio de la Empanada! As soon as you walk in several waiters approach you with menus and ask you to sit at their establishment. Since we didn't know which one would be best, we followed the first...More

If you want to try the real Salta go there and try the empanadas and the hume. The week end you can see the saltenos eat in family with groups of music playing. It's really nice.

In a cheap but funky neon plastic decor we have had some good empanadas, tamales and humitas. Service was ok. Typical place for locals. We have had better empanadas in cafayate though.

It's about a 15 minute walk from the main square down a busy street... You can't tell from the outside that it opens to a giant courtyard packed with sunny tables... The atmosphere is great! There were a fair amount of locals mixed with Spanish...More

No es precisamente un restaurant sino un lugar donde hay varios puestos que sirven comida típica norteña: empanadas, tamales. humita, dulce de cayote, quesadilla. Se come muy bien a precios módicos. No dejar de pedir la salsita picante.
