Stopped in to McKevitt's Restaurant while on a day excursion to Carlingford today. Next trip, we'll look for somewhere else to eat. Two main problems: 1) Although the Republic of Ireland appears to mandate identifying common food allergens on menus, a check with the kitchen by the waiter revealed that all the kids' meals had egg, but this was not... My boyfriend and I called in for food at the weekend. It was busy enough and we managed to get a quiet table at the back. We were served promptly by staff and our food arrived quickly. There wasn't a wait considering that it was quite busy. I ordered a chicken dish and my boyfriend got pork. They were both... More

My husband and I were in need of a peaceful oasis this evening...Carlingford can get very hectic at weekends and as locals you don't necessarily want to compete with hen parties, loud music and wedding guests all the time. Schooners restaurant in McKevitt's is the perfect solution. There's a lovely buzz but space to relax. The choice of red wines... More

Called today to McKevits. Place was not busy. Staff attitude was awful. Food was average. Swearing from bar customers and when we asked to move tables it was a 'real hassle' so we left. As leaving we were laughter at from behind the bar. Never again!!! Avoid this place.

Thank you for your review, we are sincerely sorry to hear of your negative experience in our premises. We do remember the day in question and we were aware there was an issue with some customers swearing which can be off putting. The customers in question were asked to mind their language and volume several times by myself and our... More

Poor food, boring menu, extortionate prices... that's McKevitt's Village Hotel. My advice is to skip this place and walk a few yards away to a better place. Good service but diabolical food and lack of creativity in the menu

We stopped in on Saturday afternoon around 5 and got 2 steak sandwiches which were delicious. My only critique would be using dry herb seasoning which isn't necessary when you have tender steak and a creamy pepper sauce. The staff were so friendly and we were in and out within an hour. I would definitely recommend.

We had a great dining experience here. I asked if they could make a vegan dish and I was not disappointed. I was served a delicious salad with homemade chutney, toasted nuts and seeds, roasted veg and a bowl of chips. My husband was also pleased with his steak. Very reasonably priced and I would go back just for the... More

Visited Schooners Restaurant on a mid week break to Carlingford The food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and attentative. The only thing that was better than the food was the Irish Coffee I had afterwards The young lady who made it promised it would be the best I'd ever had. She didn't disappoint.

The restaurant was full so we had to wait in a (really beatuful) garden about half an hour. Then we've got the table, and had to wait for the food for another hour! We were told that the big group of people had placed their orders just before us, but then, they should had warned us. The meal was very... More
