Uh, umm, wow! From the moment I entered the place without a reservation the experience was incredible. The owner made me feel very welcome even while suggesting I come back in a half hour to 40 minutes for a table. Which I did. I got...there and was greet with a before dinner drink that was very tasty, while I waited for my table to get ready. Seeing the food on the tables was already making me hungry. I got to my table and I felt like an old friend in a friend's home. While I looked over the menu there were olives, bread and fantastically fresh, sweet, perfectly simply cooked shrimp to nibble on. (Paid for, but inexpensive.) I went with the freshest catch of the day - a seabass that had been caught the same day. Before it came out I was given a complimentary other glass of liquor that was great and a small bowl of one of the best fish soups I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Then the fish came. It was possibly the best fish I have ever had in a resaturant. (I worked on salmon fishing boats during university, so I know fresh fish.) It was perfectly cooked, simple and extraordinary. It came with a fantastic sauce on the side that perfectly complemented it. It came with nicely steamed brocoli, potatoes and a small piece of carrot; as well as a very fresh simple salad of lettuce, tomato and raw sweet onion. As I was alone, it was perfectly cut horizontally so that I had half the whole fish, which was plenty but not overly much. Every bite was simply incredible. And the owner, who is essentially an Olympic athlete of hospitality, was constantly coming by my table and everyone else's to make sure that they felt welcome and happy. This is very rare when I am dining alone. Usually people figure that since I am not a large table with a lot of people, I won't be spending much, so they don't go out of their way to see to my needs. This wasn't that, not even close. I was really too full for dessert but everything else had been so perfect - from the half bottle of house red wine, to the fizzy water, to the bread, olives, etc. - that I figured I must. Coffee mousse. Whoever heard of coffee mousee? Now I will search it out wherever I go. It was superb. Then after it all, a glass of port that they suggested I sip slowly to enjoy it. I did. And the whole thing came to a little over US$30, which was ludicrously cheap. I am in love with this restaurant. It makes me want to move to Nazare to eat here more often.More
