Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went with a small party for Sunday lunch. We had four different dishes all were excellently cooked and presented by the french chef. The desserts, cooked in house, were super too. There was a good selection fo beers and wines to accompany the food. The 'Tally'...is an excellent example of a great british pub with excellent food, the service was quietly professional without being overbearing.More

Always stop off at this gem when travelling to/from London. Booked a table for 1.30pm today as was picking up son and girlfriend from Heathrow. Arrived, told which table we were at, then sat for 45 minutes waiting for our order to be taken. In...the end, we gave up and paid for our drinks. Was so looking forward to a Sunday lunch, especially as they had an overnight flight from Toronto, and I had been in the car since 8.15am. Disgusting service and very disappointing. Have been 6 times before and always been blown away by food, service etc. Now would be reticent to return. Such a shame!More

Disappointed. Had read the reviews and was looking forward to Sunday lunch. Vegetables were nearly raw including the disappointing cauliflower cheese which was bland. Risotto also bland. Roast beef was fatty and chewy. Staff were attentive until it started to get busy then service was...poor. We struggled to get drinks and were offered no deserts or coffee. Waited ages for the bill.More

Just off the M4 junction 14 and Hungrford on the A338 at Newtown you may just miss the signage to The Tally Ho - a community pub with a difference - It's a bijou compact bar, restaurant, 3 bedroomed delight - We stayed there 2...nights as a base to explore the Kennet and Avon Canal + adjacent walks and were just taken aback how this not hidden but secret place is not known to more travellers and people just wanting to find a culinary haven in this countryside. The food was delightful - The en-suite bedroom (The Nest :) ) was a treat - All in all, the Tally Ho was an above expectation brilliant stay.More

We were greeted by friendly staff at the bar and chose where we wanted to sit in the cosy restaurant. Our dog willow was made very welcome with treats and a bowl of water. The food was delicious with generous portions and our roast dinners...were accompanied by a wide selection of tasty seasonal vegetables with plenty of homemade gravy. Highly recommended especially for Sunday roast and locals night on Wednesday evening. This lovely community run pub also has a very popular quiz night on the first Tuesday of every month. There are some lovely circular walks that can be enjoyed from the Tally Ho before or after your meal! They even have three en-suite bedrooms upstairs if you need somewhere to stop over on your journey and are situated within a mile of the M4 junction 14 and the A4 close to Hungerford. Booking ahead is advised.More

We went for Sunday lunch. My 3 year old doesn't eat much so I asked just for a sausage and Yorkshire pudding for him. When the food came 1 of the starters was wrong so they replaced it for the correct 1. Food was average...I would say. When we came to pay we were charged for the more expensive starter and £10 for the 1 sausage and Yorkshire pudding!! I complained and it was reduced to £5. The whole meal was so expensive and not worth the money. I also found the staff quite rude. I wouldn't returnMore

Hi there, I’m so pleased you love the chips. They are absolutely gluten free, we hand cut them and they are tripled cooked, which makes them so yummy! Nothing but potato!
