I didn't stay here but had some lunch. I wouldn't normally write a review but The Swan Inn sent me a text message specifically asking for my opinion so here it is. The food was very poor indeed. I had sausages, mash and veg. Its...More

This gratuitously unpleasant review is in complete contrast to other reviews. No one has complained about our food in February and have to doubt the veracity of it. If anyone has a problem with their food or service we would expect them to say so...More

Service very good indeed and the wine was fine.Any restaurant which has ox-tail on the menu is fine by me. Food OK but nothing very special based on a very small sample.

We were looking for British pub with rooms and good food, near Hungerford, as an overnight stop on the Bristol to London bike route.Imagined a country pub, good beers, great atmosphere, cracking food. Positives were staff extremely helpful, draught beers good, pleasant location. Downside is...More

Took the family in for a Sunday lunch, and was impressed by such an extensive menu. Had planned and expected a Sunday roast, yes it was there and so were so many other choices. I therefore changed my mind and enjoyed a really nice lasagna....More

We stopped in to the pub on a Saturday for a light lunch and pints during a country walk. It was a nice day so we were able to take advantage of the outdoor seating. We had soup and the organic beef burger; both were...More

Beautiful riverside location and well renovated. Good value food in a cosy atmosphere which can only improve as the staff find their feet. Worth another trip.

Picked this pub for a Sunday lunch today. Phoned ahead and pre-booked two roast dinners. The pub itself was clean and tidy. The welcome acceptable, unfortunately the food was terrible. The roast beef (Promoted heavily) was thin, tough and chewy. The vegtable selection was also...More

This review is in complete contrast to the experience of over 40 guests at lunch and one suspects a hidden agenda here particular as a competitor is recommended. 20 roast beef lunches were served and resulted in many compliments. This customer complained on the day...More

We chose this restaurant as a half-way house between my brother's Windsor family and ours at Box near Bath. The reviews on their web page were very good. We arrived for Sunday lunch at 12.30pm - and the specials board showed a choice of beef...More

I simply have never had a such a dismal meal. How any self-respecting English Pub can manage to present something as simple as a Ploughman's lunch and still manage to hugely disappoint is beyond me. without doubt the tiniest portion of food I have ever...More

Nice locale, good ale, friendly East European staff, comfortable, clean bedrooms. However, the standard of the evening meal was poor. as were the sandwiches and the breakfast. The food was stodgy and heavy, overloaded with salad, and the vegetables appeared to have come from a...More

The Only valid criticism of the food related to the sea food risotto which was dry and I apologised at the time. Salad dressing is provided on the table as every customer has a different requirement. Toast was provided with the Pate. Our full menu...More

Description
Hungerfords Cygnet restaurant has grasped on to the idea of the organic movement with both hands and made a real success of combining sophisticated dining with eco-friendly ideals. For that real get-away-from-it-all experience Cygnet couldnt be better, offering a countryside idyll in the shape of a gorgeously executed barn conversion. Bare wood beams cut in to white washed walls while rustic accessories really add to that bucolic charm. The menu meanwhile is created seasonally using fine organic ingredients, many supplied by the restaurants own farm in Inkpen. Alongside traditional English dishes youll find more imaginative twists plucked from across the globe to be enjoyed with a bottle from the exclusively organic wine list.
