Stayed in the 'Honeysuckle ' room for 2 nights as a surprise for my birthday and everything about our stay was fabulous. The room was beautiful with a steam room and jacuzzi bath. We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant which was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff throughout our stay. Gorgeous place will definitely be... More

It was starting to snow lightly, so I pulled into the car park to get my bearings. Deciding to warm up for a while I entered and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome from front desk and from the Lovely Italian bar lady. I decided to sit at the bar and have a glass of red , the sommelier... More

The chef has changed since we last ate here but the food and staff are just as good. We took the '2 courses for £15’ luncheon which is tremendous value for money for very good food. We had poached egg with Hollandaise on a fish cake for a starter - tasty and perfectly cooked poached egg. Two Sea Bass fillets... More

Had an excellent lunch from their special lunchtime fixed price menu. The food was very good and the service exceptional - I even tested them to see if they noticed that I had finished my aperitif and they did and brought my wine - full brownie points scored! My starter of fish cake was a little sloppy although tasty and... More

My friends and I went there for lunch after X-mas. We ordered from the 15 pound set menu. Had to wait forever for first course. I had a cream of parsnip soup, which was almost 100% cream and far too rich. As a main I had grilled plaice which was more bones than anything else. My friend had a mince... More

Overall a nice lunch Very nice front of house staff . Friendly and kind . The waitress had a great understanding of the wine list and recommended a cracking Meerlust which was well priced The food was inconsistent . The roast excellent . The soup was puréed root vegetable but lacked depth of flavour . The fish and chips good... More

I am a great believer that in the main 'you get what you pay for' and I bemoan the modern focus on everything budget....whether it be airlines, hotel chains, pound shops etc. Yep they are cheap but only because the reduce the quality elements. The Dog and Badger is an antidote to this, as everything you see is high quality... More

We stayed in Cassia room which was tastefully designed and decorated in mauve and grey colour scheme on New Years Eve .The quality and attention to detail is outstanding . Low beams so mind your heads but this does not spoil your experience. The restaurant set menu was astounding with prawn and lobster followed by a main of beef fillet... More

The Dog and Badger reopened in July 2015 as a free house after an extensive refurbishment over 18 months. The original building has been restored to retain its charm and a new Oak framed space has been added to house the main bar and the new state-of-the art open kitchen with its wood-fired oven and charcoal grill. The 60 seat restaurant serves seasonal contemporary dishes all prepared with locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The kitchen has its own large vegetable and herb garden at the back of Gillman's Cottage. Breakfast is served from 8am to midday with bar snacks and meals including many pub favourites available in the bar and snug areas from 11am through until 10pm. A beautiful terrace has been added for alfresco drinking and dining. The private dining suite accommodates up to 14 for business meetings or a private lunch or dinner and 30 for a less formal occasion. The adjacent Gillman's Cottage has 6 luxury bedrooms all with private bathrooms and air conditioning. We very much look forward to welcoming you to The Dog and Badger!
