Visited here for Sunday lunch yesterday having booked a table online about an hour before. Friendly and welcoming greeting and offered a choice of tables as the place was not too busy. Chose a table in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Service was very good, quick and efficient. I believed that on a Sunday, lunch,... More

Delicious food in a buzzing atmosphere. The roasts were excellent and very filling. Service was very prompt indeed. Would visit again.

I would like to give 4 1/2 stars.... The food was good with lots of choice for everyone... although the prices seem to have gone up a bit since our last visit... The beef croquette was a surprise and very tasty... just needed a little more gravy, which, on reflection we should have requested.... The service was good and effiecent,... More

Lovely lunch with my wife over the weekend at this pub. Food was great and the service was friendly and attentive. There was a lovely garden in the back which would be great on a summers day. I would certainly return if I was back in the area.

Honest good quality food in a pleasant environment with happy staff. Little more to ask for particularly if you have walked the dogs up on the nearby common as they too are welcome in the pub.

The pub is on the outskirts of the gastrocentre of Marlow, up a narrow road by a small green, a good base for some nice walks. It has good parking and an outdoor area. Inside it retains some parts of the old inn, but has been opened up to provide space as a popular gastropub, with rustic seating that provides... More

Ate here on a Friday evening with friends. My first visit though my partner had been several times. We booked and requested a quiet table for the four of us and were very happy with our allocated position - large table by the window, near the door and woodburner with no other tables nearby. Food and service were excellent. I... More

We arranged to meet some friends here, all of us had never been here before. What a superb place, lovely typical old pub with a great beer garden. The food was the main star here ! Absolutely fantastic food....the standard is extremely high, especially for a pub. I'd recommend to anyone to visit this place for the food and I... More

Found this pub on the internet due to it's gluten free and allergen menu. Very friendly team, very busy but had a nice feel about the place. Lots of menu choice for our group, everything delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was definitely a highlight. We'd recommend and would return. Lovely garden outside too for the sunnier days.

Description
From the banks of the Thames take the short trip up the winding hill to Bovingdon Green and the warm, wooden heart of award-winning The Royal Oak.

Oak by name and oaken by nature - but not hard or austere: not a bit of it.

Bare floorboards and ancient timbers ooze bonhomie, it feels like someone's home - it might as well be yours for the time you are there. Like old friends visiting for dinner, the welcome is easy and relaxed. It's journey's end.
