We came to Botanica to celebrate a birthday. We were met at the door and shown to the table. There was a choice of seating inside or in the stylish outdoor eating area. We were given menus and our drinks order was taken. However, despite it not being a particularly busy night, it took at least 15 minutes for our food order to be taken. Granted we were given an apology (as were other diners who had a similar wait).
The menu is very eclectic and there are some wonderful choices - stuff you can't get elsewhere. We had a shared starter and it was really lovely. Our main courses were good, decent portions and the food was really lovely. The staff were friendly.
My gripes besides the slow ordering are that there were a lot of flies buzzing around the inside seating area and also tables weren't being cleared quickly once patrons had left (a bug bear, sorry). Some of the dishes are a bit pricey - the lobster roll with paprika fries costs £18, which was a little on the heavy side. However despite these quibbles, I am recommending Botanica to anyone who will listen as I think the food is brilliant and this place is just what the area needs.

We arrived in the evening in KL and on a whim went into this restaurant. It had a lovely atmosphere and as it was good weather & they had heaters it was warm enough to sit outside (and I get cold easily!) which was lovely.
The waitress was very accommodating and helpfully told us right away that unfortunately they’d run out of a couple of dishes (we were there around 8:30/9 so quite late) and that since they had a large group there may be a wait on the food (there wasn’t!)
A quick, inexpensive and tasty meal.

What a great place to dine, we were booked in for 7pm Saturday evening, we arrived early and we’re seated in the garden area with heater and served our drinks to view the menu. The menu had slightly changed but we were reassured that we could still order anything we may have seen on line, nothing was too much trouble. We were served by 2 delightful young ladies, Abby & Amelia both very welcoming. friendly and helpful, they certainly helped to make our dining experience enjoyable. The wine was a tad expensive, but the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

Me and my partner booked botanica cafe for lunch in the middle of half term and the weather was boiling and the cafe was rather busy, we arrived and were seated outside in the sun which was fine. It then took at least 15 minutes to receive menues and a further 15 minutes for them to even take out drinks order, by this point I was in desperate need of a drink as it was so hot!
30 mins later our food order was finally taken at which point I told them I was in a rush and could they please hurry up so the advised I only ordered a sandwich, so I ordered the chicken sub and my boyfriend ordered the pulled pork tacos.
30mins later still no food so we asked if they could put it in a takeout box as I needed to leave, we took the food away to be left very disappointed as my chicken sub sandwich had a bone in!!! And my boyfriends pulled pork tacos were very poor only 2 small wraps (not even proper tacos) with a mere 2 spoonfuls of pulled pork on, no side salad or any kind of side dish! So we left feeling very disappointed and ripped off as we had paid £30 for very little food and poor customer service!!!
Definitely would not recommend, especially when it’s busy! The place was run by young girls none much older than 20! The food is very expensive for what you actually get! They were also out of stock of all pizzas?!?

We arrived and had to wait in a que, this was a good sign as they were busy. The food was really good and they had a great selection of Gluten free options.
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately there was at least one table to many inside to maintain social distancing. The route to the toilets was between two tables and the staff were constantly stood at the shoulder of customers who were eating due to lack of room.
Although the staff were friendly we witnessed a couple complain that they had been ignored, after a larger group had arrived, they were still waiting for their food and the larger group were served first even though they arrived a good ten minutes after this couple.
We also noticed a considerable lack of service to our table after this group arrived, the whole atmosphere changed. Firstly, they were unable to maintain social distancing when they were being seated and when they were being served. Secondly we were then ignored and they assumed we no longer wanted another course.
When I felt so uncomfortable watching our family being ignored, I decided to leave, leaving my wife and child to see if they could get served. I had no intention of making a scene and explained to my Daughter that our dog needed to be walked.
We had sat for twenty minutes at our table with empty plates which we had stacked to suggest we had finished that course. When I left the premises I was asked if I wanted the bill? I was so disappointed we could not get served and frustrated that we could not relax and enjoy a family meal, I explained to them my issue. Which was the fact that they were doubling up to serve a group of friends, ignoring other customers, while also ignoring social distancing and then clearly trying to turn our table around quickly to get another cover.
We did not want the bill, my Daughter and I were looking forward to a dessert, and my wife a relaxing coffee while we enjoyed the bank holiday. We had waited twenty minutes without any customer service, while watching the larger group being pandered too.
This was clearly a problem when other customers were also complaining.
Great food, great location, lovely premises, pleasant staff when they were paying attention. But the whole experience was spoiled by lack of social distancing, respect and care for the customer and being ignored for a later group, is un professional.

We’ve eaten here once before and it was lovely food so didn’t hesitate to return for lunch. What a mistake - my order arrived missing 3 substantial elements and when I mentioned this to the waitress she replied “oh I’ll go and speak to the chef” and then produced 2 of the missing items. I was told the 3rd item had been mixed in to the food already. Given it was coucous I think I’d have known if it was there and it wasn’t but when I said that it wasn’t I was ignored. There was also an additional element that had been added that wasn’t on the menu and which I unfortunately do not like so had it been listed on the ingredients, I wouldn’t have ordered the dish on the first place and quite frankly wish I hadn’t. My husband’s food was pretty tasteless and very expensive for what it was (3 small prawn tacos costing £15 with no sides). The service was very slow as they were short staffed and they did lose customers because of it. We weren’t bothered about the long wait for food and drinks and didn’t complain. However when I went to pay the bill I mentioned the food order not being as advertised on the menu and was met with a frown and I’ll tell the chef - no apology whatsoever. I expect the staff thought we were tourists but we’re not and will never go back there again, not even for a coffee. A very expensive (£37) lunch that wasn’t worth it.

We dropped in to have a quick coffee and cake on Saturday afternoon. Despite tables not being full we had a 15-minute wait before having to request a menu. Having ordered two lattes and a waffle we waited another 20 minutes without any result. When we asked a waitress how long we would have to wait to get our order, we were told another 10 minutes. Outrageous experience just for two coffees and a piece of cake. As the money on our parking meter was running out, we did not have time to stay and sample the coffee and waffle, so unfortunately cannot review it on this page.

Waited a while to be served and to get our food and when it arrived we were very disappointed. £14 for the ‘tacos’ which could only be described as 3 little crackers with some topping. The mango and chicken salad (£12) looked like it should have been a starter rather than a main meal. We also asked if we could swap one of our dishes due to not realising that it contained raw fish, which our waitress agreed to but we were then told we had to pay for at the end when we got our bill. Overall, the service was poor, food was disappointing and completely over priced.

Booked an outside table here through the online booking partner but when we arrived our table had been double booked so we were seated inside and told we would be served drinks until an outside table was available. There was a long wait to take our drinks order; the tables inside were too close together and I had to remind the waitress that we wanted to be outside as soon as possible. We were moved after about 15 mins but it then took another 10 minutes to take our food order only to be told at this point that certain items were no longer available.
Everything seemed chaotic, and whilst it was busy, there were lots of staff but other customers seemed to be having long waits too.
The food was pleasant enough but over priced for what it was.
Botanica need to up their game as there are plenty of other excellent options in Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley

Well what can I say…I was absolutely shocked and disgusted by what I experienced tonight at Botanica!!! This was my first ever visit to the restaurant and I can safely say, my last.
I will detail the issues in turn:-
We ordered during the course of the evening 5 Botanica Fizz cocktails. The glasses arrived not even half full - the measures were in fact laughable. These most certainly did not comply with the Weights & Measures Act. We therefore asked for the glasses to be topped up, which the staff did however, we were charged for 3 additional Botanica Fizz cocktails for the top up privilege at £7 per glass!!!.
A female member of staff approached the table and very abruptly asked if we were “ready to order or not”. The same member of staff then advised us at 7pm that they needed the table back at 8pm (the table being booked for 6:45pm). Quite clearly your staff need some training in customer service.
We were advised that approximately 50% of the already limited menu was off. When the food arrived, it was average at best.
All these points were raised with staff who did very little to offer any kind of remedy!
SHOCKING!!!

This has got to be the worst service / dining experience I have ever had. We arrived on time and were shown to our table, we then waited 45 minutes to be spoken to and at that point were told there would be quite a wait on food. Tables around us all looked furious and it was obvious they were having the same awful experience. A lady and her 2 sons next to us left after waiting 30 mins to be seen. After we ordered our food, the waitress then walked away so we had to go inside to order some drinks. We ordered 2 gin and tonics which were £16?!!! I asked how they could possibly be £16 to be told their standard measure is a double? Surely that’s against policy - what if people are driving! Bizarre. Our food then came out in stages - a side dish of rice to compliment the beef dish arriving 30 minutes after it. Each time we had to go inside for our drinks there were 5/6 waitresses stood about gossiping. It’s a shame because this place could be lovely, some of the food was good, but it’s obviously so badly managed.

Was jam packed but still managed to find room whilst keeping with social distancing. Had multiple requests eg two desserts and a milk allergy that were catered for without issue. To say we went during lunch time rush service was quick. Everyone was wonderful but particularly Georgie. Her smile is contagious

My friends and I were coming for some late lunch and they told us they were all full up, as we turned and started walking away a table freed up and a staff member by the name of Georgie came chasing after us letting us know of the free table. We felt very wanted and welcome as customers and the service that followed continued to deliver at a high quality. Very happy and the food was great to boot!

My friend and I ordered the king prawn and avocado sandwich with citrus Mayo dressing. It was tasteless, the Mayo was cheap tasting, no citrus flavour, the prawns were bland, no butter on the bread. We also ordered a side of fries which tasted like they had been cooked in oil which hadn't been changed for weeks. All in all a bad experience. We paid £13 each for something we didn't enjoy and we weren't asked how the meal was. A no go in future. We live locally so the message will go out!
