Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As we had heard good reports about this restaurant so after visiting Dalton Park cinema we decided to try the restaurant ourselves. The menu on an evening is mostly steaks, tapas, and lobster. As someone who eats no red meat , I was extremely in...the limited choice that was available and decided on the lobster. The lobster is served on top of prawns and chips, I feel that very little imagination is used (if any) in the serving of this dish. I did ask if there was another menu and was informed by the unpleasant member of staff that it was the only menu available and did not ask if there was a problem. My husband and brother in law did enjoy their steaks, but mentioned that they wouldn't return to this restaurant and needless to say, nor will I.More

Superb place for coffee, brunch, lunch or evening. Varied & exciting menu, atmosphere & service, all top notch. The chowder was amazing; 'dirty fries' really good. We'll definitely be back

Food was really nice but the staff are terrible. The waitress raised her voice and told my 2 year old not to touch the plastic menu which was absolutely ridiculous I could understand if he was banging it off the table or throwing it around...but he wasn’t! Then she was complaining to other staff she couldn’t be bothered and was tired. All the staff stood chatting at the bar right next to our table complaining about other customers that asked where their coffee was. Everything seemed like it was too much of a hassle for them and they didn’t want to be there!More

Went in after watching the ferocious seas at Seaham Harbour and Marina. Lovely welcome, menu explained and drinks ordered and timely served. We ordered 5 Tapas which were all very good but could have be served a bit hotter. Service was friendly efficient and unobtrusive....Overall a lovely experience just need the food to be served a bit hotter.More

Following a walk along the sea front decided to call in for Sunday lunch, did not have a reservation but even though it was busy we were shown to a table quickly. Roast beef Sunday lunch with a lovely Yorkshire pudding (extra can be added)...and tasty gravy. Had room for a lovely sticky toffee pudding and coffee. Good friendly service and reasonably priced food.More

We often call into The Lamp Room for lunch when we are in Seaham and the food is usually very good. But today I got a goats cheese salad and thought it was very poor a large pile of rocket a few bits of beetroot...and a few pomegranate seeds and the cheese on top no dressing or pink onions as stated on the menu. For nearly £13 it certainly wasn't worth the money. I did tell the waiter my thoughts , who said I will let them know, and that was that.More

We were a party of 6 for brunch on a Sat so was quite busy. Food was omelette which was quite dry, poached eggs tasted ok mushrooms on sourdough which was very very tough to cut through. Food tasted disappointingly average.

Where do I begin? Took 30 minutes to be reminded we ordered drinks. Then took another 10-15 minutes to get them. Loads of tutting and “we’re busy” fair enough…but don’t blame me! Only had 1 egg on my mates breakfast…plural! Should have been two. Then...I asked for some more toast at the end…he said “oh toast, that’ll be quite a good wait” how long does toast take! Attitude of staff absolutely stinks and on that basis I won’t be returning ! Shame. Cos’ nice food.More

Wonderful evening to celebrate my daughters Birthday, we are not local but had seen the reviews and thought we would book. We had tapas and cocktails, the service was fantastic and friendly. Order was taken quickly and food arrived shortly after. Food hot and tasty,...we enjoyed the tempura veg and the halloumi most! Already planning a return trip, highly recommend a visit!More

It can get very busy, so I would recommend that you book. You can reserve in the website and it sends a confirmation email. Very easy. Hope this helps X
