Visited on a Saturday evening, the pub was empty despite being in the water front .. really nice old fashioned pub ... should be doing very well . Within minutes of approaching the bar ... the Landlord was rude, dismissive and really wasn’t bothered about...More

We were a group of 18 having a meal. Our food was served promptly and was lovely. The landlord is a "bit of a character" but is the heart of the place. All the staff were lovely!

Wish I'd never entered the premises. My interaction with this unpleasant individual ruined the day. Not recommended.

I booked a table for dinner 2 months ago, after reading good reviews on this site. We arrived this evening and the landlord (not realising we had booked for dinner for 4 people) mocked our drinks choices and was generally unhelpful, muttering sarcastic asides to...More

Second time we’ve been and YES the landlord is ‘interesting’. But harmless enough I think. We had food in the conservatory bit which is a lovely setting. Food was basic but nice and a good price. Overall, interesting.

The landlord looks like scrooge, but without the welcoming charm and friendly nature.(Miserable chap) He did his best to put us off but we were made of stronger stuff! The pub was EMPTY, not just quiet. Empty! Great location but the outside area is falling...More

Found this pub by accident whilst walking around and decided to try it based on the views. After a dodgy start with the landlord ( he's a bit of a character ) we had a really good meal and excellent value. Friendly young waitress. As...More

We found this place purely by accident! Hidden away, by the old harbour in Kings Lynn, just behind the Corn Exchange, this pub is awesome! A historic building, if this place could talk it would tell some great stories. Once inside, you are greeted with...More

if you are coming with larger numbers then yes as we only keep a smaller supply of fresh meat as our butcher delivers daily. However booking is always advised if you would like to visit on a sunday lunchtime.

Description
We are a grade 2 listed building built as private houses in the 1600's and converted into a pub in 1743. Since that date the premises have retained not just the name but also the licence. We have been independently owned and run since 1994 by our charming landlord Roger. We are in a great riverside spot, lots of interesting naval and nautical memorabilia to come and see and up to six well kept ales from small independent breweries , good value, home style, freshly cooked food, Enjoy a view of The Great Ouse from our raised vinery. or join us in the dining room with our beautiful rustic fireplace. well behaved dogs are also welcome here.
