I was recommended to the Gun for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. They have lovely roasts on offer, with good thick slices of meat. My friends found the vegetables a little undercooked. On the whole they enjoyed their roast. I had the brill which was on special and that was really lovely. We followed that with a pudding, my... More

Always good here and not disappointed this time. Great staff, attentive but not intrusive. Spacious seating so not overlooked or cramped.

This 15th century Sussex pub was a great venue for Sunday lunch with family and friends. Extensive menu where it was a challenge deciding what to have from the the many delicious options. Obvious pride is taken in the sourcing of much of the produce from local suppliers. Service was friendly and efficient. Would certainly visit again

Visited on a cold wet windy night so it was great to be inside in this warm cosy pub. The menu gave great choices, with many gourmet meals. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the exotic pizzas were wonderful. The portions were large which meant there was no room for dessert. Would highly recommend.

The service from all of the staff was excellent, the best we've seen in any other local pub/restaurant. Menu choice was good, food really nice although one of the starters (scallops) was a small serving. Would definitely recommend.

34 of us dined at the Gun and had a wonderful evening. We made a group booking and selected beforehand from an events menu. An additional vegetarian choice was added which was greatly appreciated. Everything from our initial contact with the pub and telephone contact with the events organiser to arrange the evening was friendly and helpful. On the night... More

There is no better way to test a restaurant than on wet Tuesday afternoon in January and the Gun passed with flying colours. Five of us visited and had a truly great lunch in warm, friendly and comfortable surroundings. Lovely starters, great mains and a chocolate and chili tart and ginger ice cream desert living you wanting more, definitely worth... More

My idea of a fabulous pub/restarant. Idealistic location with views over the countryside. Interior to match with its old English cosy style. Food a little too expensive but delicious. Will definitely be back :)

We visited last night for our branch Christmas meal. We are all charity volunteers. The staff had agreed in advance to keep the Christmas menu available for us which was excellent value for money. The food was excellent and well presented and with very attentive and friendly service. Of the 18 of us there 17 loved it....but there is always... More

When walking on the Wealden Way we recommend taking the time to discover The Gun, an atmospheric pub-restaurant on the outskirts of Heathfield, East Sussex. This fifteenth century pub is full of period charm and countryside comfort, the interior carefully decorated to create light and space, bringing a touch of the modern to ancient bare bricks, wood panelling and stripped back flooring with simple, elegant but robust furnishings. An extensive landscaped garden is perfect for families, providing play equipment for children while maintaining the peace and quiet of a true country retreat. At The Guns bar, youll find all manner of well kept real ales as well as a wide selection of quality wines, while the food menu is celebrated locally for its great pies, seasonal game dishes and continental specialties, all created using locally sourced, fresh produce. Whether a snowy winters day or a hot summer evening, The Gun has a perfect atmosphere to suit, indoors or out, for dinner or just a few drinks and a bite to eat.
