Location and contact

When walking on the Wealden Way we recommend taking the time to discover The Gun, an atmospheric pub-restaurant on the outskirts of Heathfield, East Sussex. This fifteenth century pub is full of period charm and countryside comfort, the interior carefully decorated to create light and space, bringing a touch of the modern to ancient bare bricks, wood panelling and stripped back flooring with simple, elegant but robust furnishings. An extensive landscaped garden is perfect for families, providing play equipment for children while maintaining the peace and quiet of a true country retreat. At The Guns bar, youll find all manner of well kept real ales as well as a wide selection of quality

Love this pub - great country location, list of recommended walks available. Lovely interior. We were seated by the open fire. Had a delightful goats cheese, pumpkin pizza, made in front of us, together with a fabulously tasty artichoke and parmesan salad. Pudding was a...More

My first time to The Gun. So impressed with the Electric Car charge points outside. The food was absolutely faultless and generously proportioned. The service was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go to The Gun again.

Due to its location we had booked our table in advance however upon on arrival it was quite obvious that they had no record of it. We ended up being seated away from the main restaurant area which was a shame however the staff were...More

We turned up on spec on a Sunday afternoon. Very busy and booking preferred but they found us a tiny table. Offered the Bar Menu instead, we sat on stools at the bar, which was quiet, quaintly decorated in country cookware, and good ales available....More

A little off the beaten track but worth making the effort to get there, as the full dining room showed. On a cold wet February night a warm open fire in a very traditional English pub is a great welcome. The dinning area is well...More

Sunday lunch for 6. Very prompt service and nice hot food which everyone enjoyed. So can recommend. On this basis almost certainly necessary to book in advance as some people were just turning up only to be disappointed.

This is a wonderfully cosy pub, just what you need if your travelling in from the city. They have freshly made stone baked pizzas as well which was a nice surprise! Definitely 10/10

The Gun stands head and shoulders apart from pubs for miles around, the menu is quite different from the usual pub food one expects , right down to their signature pizzas. Which we tried and were certainly not disappointed. Extremely pleasant staff , a warm welcome...More
