Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food was excellent, service very good. I have hearing loss and the table I had book was changed to make things easier. That was much appreciated and shows the level a care towards the customer that is taken here.

Excellent service, we called at short notice, they fitted us in for a later dinner, but when an earlier spot came up, they called us. My wife has a restricted diet, they coped with it without difficulty. Free bread and oil was a nice change...from other places. Great fish, well cooked and excellent wine.More

We had lunch for 12 friends here today. Superb food and service. Friendly efficient and great value. Now I see why it has taken so long to get booked in here as it’s so good. We will be back. Thank you

My friend and I went for lunch at Stepping Stones, nor out first visit and certainly not the last. The quality of the food is excellent as is the service. My main point for writing this review is not only to applaud the wonderful fresh...vegetables and succulent meats but how fabulous it is that it is served on hot plates. This seems a rarity in restaurants these daysMore

We came as a family of 7 for lunch. Don't judge a book by its cover, the appearance of Stepping Stone belies the choice and quality of dining. We enjoyed starters such as crispy squid, Asian King prawns and soup. All were delicious. For the...mains we had steak, sea bass, king prawn curry and lamb. We finished off with 4 desserts to share. We ate every crumb! The service was friendly, swift but not invasive. I had a feeling that the staff took pleasure from our enjoyment. The set menu is amazing value for money. Highly recommend.More

We have always had an excellent meal here. Today we went for the Christmas lunch and it was superb. The turkey was beautifully cooked and the vegetables were, as always, delicious. Desserts were thoroughly enjoyed as well, the Christmas pudding/sticky toffee and the sublime warm...frangipane tart. Thanks to front of house for looking after us so well, see you in 2024.More

We went for a family birthday meal, had been trying to book there for over a year and were never able to get a table, so expectations were high. I’d only heard good things about the place. And it all started off well, starters were...mostly good, other than the crab and lobster bisque, service was good. But the mains were not good at all. The curry’s were fine, just kind of like a pub curry paste from a tub, the lamb was nice I was told, and the sea bass. But the seafood sauce they put all over the trio of fish made it inedible for me, I had to swap with another party member, who also didn’t like it but didn’t want to send it back. I can only assume they use a lobster stock/glace from a tub mixed with water. It smells exactly like one that we use in a restaurant that I work in. Just super salty, gloopy and not nice. Shame, we were really looking forward to it, but honestly nothing special.More

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with us. The disappointing thing is that had you said anything when service checked or when the bill was received the problems would have been rectified. I would have replaced your meals or taken it from your bill,...More

Came here as a trio for a casual lunch and it was absolutely gorgeous! Went for the lunch menu (two courses at £23), - Cajun chicken (served with chips and watercress) and an Eton Mess cheesecake. I have no words for how wonderful it tasted...- so fresh and incredible flavours. It was cooked to absolute perfection, I honestly can’t compliment it highly enough. The other members of my party had the lamb and steak, and both agreed that theirs were also delicious and cooked beautifully. I didn’t catch our servers name, but she was attentive, caring and positive throughout our meal. Huge thanks to the staff at Stepping Stone, and my compliments to the chefs for such a beautiful meal!More

We had been before pre covid and were so pleased that the standards remained the same, great food, (large portions), lovely friendly service, and reasonable prices for this level of quality. It's only a small place so book ahead.

Once again fantastic food and attentive friendly service Good choice of starters, mains and dessert, lamb is fantastic but save room for the sticky toffee pud. A firm favourite, would definitely recommend.

You can see their menus on the website for the restaurant. No prices are shown. The prices are mid range, certainly not high. More importantly the value is terrific.
