Away for new year and went in for the 2 steaks and wine for £40. Great service and lovely food. Had some puds too which where nice. Sat outside in the undercover area with heaters and a lovely view of the harbour and xmas lights. Well worth a visit.

Couldn't leave Cornwall without a Basement breakfast! Beautifully cooked and tasted amazing along with good coffee, we couldn't have had a better start to the long trek home.

Amazing food, with really great service. We happened to enjoy the Padstow carol service whilst we enjoyed lunch, and the whole experience was brilliant. Well recommended.

We were visiting the Padstow Christmas Festival with our friends Mike and Norma and reserved our table weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff extremely efficient and friendly. I had the steamed pheasant suet pudding for starters (reminded me of a dish my mother made) and pave of hake for... More

Having visited The Basement several times and usually been impressed, I now wonder if standard are falling. This time the staff were not on the ball, but the main problem was the food: unimaginative and limited choices, not especially tasty, and the chicken was over-cooked. A shame - hope it improves.

After googling 'best breakfast in Padstow' I settled on The Basement. It was a quiet Wednesday morning when we arrived (eight people without a booking!) but we were warmly welcomed and served quickly. It's a charming eatery, with lovely decor. We all enjoyed our meals - the scrambled eggs were particularly excellent. I certainly agree with google - I couldn't... More

Two years ago the food and wine list were excellent and reasonable value. This year the more than one of our selected dishes were full of salt. The wine list was very poor both in terms of selection and value. Such a shame restaurants seem to start off fine and then presumably just profiteer. Will not be returning.

We attended the Padstow Festival November/December. The Basement had a deal of 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £40. Good food and service. We ate in a sort of conservatory which was well heated.
