Great welcome and the Chef and owner popped out to say hello. Food was excellent and service was of the same standard. Really enjoyed the Thai Red Curry with Thai coconut rice. Hadn't been for a while as we haven't been down Cornwall way for...a couple of years but just as good as we remembered it.More

What a treat! Our friends have possibly eaten the complete menu and eat here several times a year. This was our first time, which was booked a month ago as it's a small restaurant, it sells out often. Also, they only do one sitting, so...you have your table for as long as you like. I loved the location, and want to come back in the lighter months to fully appreciate the surroundings. So, onto the food - All meals were freshly cooked and genuine species and well presented. The flavourers were perfect for each of us as we all have different tastes. Remember, this is a seasonal restaurant and will be closing next week for the Winter. We will definitely be back in 2024!! Highly recommend, but don't bitch about the drive ... it is what it is!!More

We have always wanted to visit and always ran out of time, this year we booked and made sure we went. Lovely little place and such a great feeling as you enter, it’s clean, I am not great on names so please forgive me, a...warm welcoming and then seated. Pleasantries done, the food was amazing, on being told sorry but we don’t have a couple of the starters due to flour delivery, how lucky for us that we tried two alternative starters other than our usual. They were delicious. Our main and sides arrived I was not expecting the main to out shine the starter. An absolute must for anyone who likes a curry. Fresh and very tasty. Will definitely visit again and may just have to ask for lessons.More

Amazing food and service, but ordered a Coke and it was flat, I think it came from a large bottle rather than a can or bottle and they pre poured all the tonic in a gin and tonic so you couldn’t really taste the gin

This was a real treat. We had Lamb Shashlick and Sizzling Chicken Tikka Platter for starters and they were absolutely incredible, the variety and layers of flavour produced were beyond comparison. We then had Balti Chicken Rogan Josh and Balti Lamb Jalfrezi which we ate...from the Balti dishes along with Pilau Rice and Naan and the meals were perfection on a plate ( or rather on a Balti dish !) All staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and can’t do enough to help and advise. A wonderful laid back restaurant with next level food in a lovely setting. We can’t wait to return, thank you for a wonderful treat.More

I was lucky to get a table (booked about two weeks prior) at the restaurant and went for dinner with my Mother whilst on holiday in Padstow. The restaurant is very small as its in a former watermill - low ceiling with wooden beams, small...windows etc. but is none the less an adequate dining space. When we went we counted only four tables set out so a very small restaurant indeed. Their was a lady waiting on the tables (only us and one other family) and two people in the kitchen from the sound of the voices we could here - as other reviewers have commented, it almost feels like dining in someone's home than a restaurant which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all, it's just a unique experience. The food was served in good time and was very good. I had a chicken balti prepared to Madras strength and my Mother had a korma which she said was wonderful. Certainly from the looks of it it was the most authentic looking korma I've ever seen - thick, nutty sauce with a deep yellow color. Not pale, watery and sugary sweet like some takeaway versions can be. My balti was just the right level of spice to get my nose running but not blow my head off. The curry's certainly tasted homemade and fresh. The onion bhajis were very nice too - not overly oily like they can be. My Mother said her dessert was very nice as well - she had the lime and ginger cheesecake. The only thing I wish had been better/different was that I wish they did poppadoms as it just doesn't feel right having a curry without poppadoms! Guess it's just what you get used to.More

Delicious food and wonderful staff. We had prawn starters and onion bhajis followed by chicken and lamb main courses. Two chillis heat rating. Such a laid back atmosphere. The chef came out and introduced himself. Would highly recommend this special place.

We were really looking forward to eating here but it just didn't come up to our expectations. The place was really quiet even though nearly full, probably as so small. The food was ok but nothing special. Everything was just a bit average and it...all tasted very similar even though we all ordered different dishes. However, as a positive, the portions were a really good size so you won't be left hungry.More

This small restaurant is located down a very narrow road but is definitely worth the drive. We both enjoyed our starters and my lamb curry was possibly one of the best I have eaten, the meat was so tender and beautifully spiced. My husband chose...quite a hot chicken dish which he said was also excellent. Given the small size of the restaurant and the fact they only have one sitting, it's essential to make a booking. As no-one else is booked to take your table after you leave, there is no pressure to hurry your meal so it feels very relaxed. We will definitely return next time we are on holiday in the Padstow area.More

A few years back we were walking in the area and smelt this incredible smell… we stumbled upon the Journeyman Restaurant but sadly they were fully booked and we couldn’t get to try anything… after a serious number of attempts we finally got to eat...there last night with my family inc 3 kids… honestly, it was incredible and the kids said ‘I could eat this everyday’ … I cannot remember the last time I left a restaurant thinking about how soon I can eat there again. Steve (Chef) and his Staff were lovely… the flavours were complex and to be honest… it was an emotional experience and one that I am hoping to recreate soon. Steve has raised the bar in terms of curry for me… if you are in Cornwall then this is worth the journey… maybe there is something in the name ❤️More
