Food and ambience

Did you know? Despite not being an Indian restaurant, The Journeyman was recently shortlisted at the British Curry Awards and voted in The Independent Newspaper's survey of the top 50 restaurants to eat curry in the UK! Our location on the historic Saint's Way in the picturesque hamlet of Mellingey is a short 5 minute drive from either Padstow or Wadebridge & only 1/2 mile from St Issey. We have a large, free car park on site. We're ideally placed for that special night out, a family occasion, or just a chilled evening with friends. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our restaurant's mill dining room on long summer evenings or cosy autumn nights. The Journeyman's extensive menu offers something

An old mill down the bottom of a country lane isn't where you'd normally expect to find a good curry house. Decor needs a little updating but food and service very good without being too expensive. Definitely on our list for next year.

Really enjoyable food that doesn't cost the earth, served in a small room in an old mill. Great atmosphere. A couple of miles outside Padstow but well worth the trip.

Another excellent meal at a restaurant we have been visiting several times a year for at least the last 7+ years. The quality of the food is consistently very high as is the service. We expect to return to Cornwall next spring and to eat...More

Every meal previous to last night has been top class, but where to start, a puri that was described as crisp was nothing more than a supermarket rubbery flatbread thing, not remotely crispy. Next, the most unfortunate balti ever, the sauce too thick, presumably with...More

Well you wouldn't just walk past this restaurant! A swift taxi journey from Padstow took us to the Journeyman where we enjoyed a pleasant meal. Food was well prepared and tasty and the chef was friendly.

We were very excited to visit the journeyman, based on the reviews and prebooking a table prior to our trip. We wasn’t disappointed, chicken tikka was great and lamb kebabs on the starters. Chicken jalfrezi was enjoyed by my elder son and for us the...More
