We got married nearby in July and lots of our family and friends stayed at the Poltimore for a few days either side of the big day. We stayed in the amazing Observatory lodge on the wedding night too. The Poltimore was really amazing from as soon as we started planning- very responsive to emails and calls and flexible regarding moving various family members about between the available lodges/rooms rooms and also how people chose to pay. Lots of us enjoyed their hospitality - delicious food (evening meals in the sunny beer garden and breakfasts too in the spotless restaurant) and well stocked bar- in the lead up to and few days after the wedding.
We even got back to the room after the wedding to a card and a bottle of bubbles in an ice bucket that we enjoyed the following evening on the balcony.
All the wedding guests who stayed there were so pleased with the rooms, beautiful lodges and service. We could not fault the Poltimore and they added so much to our wedding weekend. We can’t wait to return. Thank you all.

The staff here are really friendly and helpful. It’s the real hub of the community as since the village shop is closed it supplies all your necessities like milk and bread etc if you run short. We ate here twice and I will make special mention of the home made pies which are outstanding and the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few! There’s a really nice ambiance here and if you get the chance to chat to a few of the locals you will find they are generous and welcoming people. Lovely pub Lovely Village.

Stayed for 3 nights and, 4me, location was a prime consideration. The comfortable accommodation was in a separate unit, with a stunning view. Breakfasts are excellent. Andy, the chef, services the whole operation with friendly, calm efficiency. Dinner is waitress served: offhand to attentive, depending on who's on. The food's very good. I am vegetarian and chose from the menu 1night; and negotiated an excellent alternative on a 2nd. It wasn't a problem 4me that the room wasn't serviced throughout my stay. The whole feel of the Inn is pub rather than hotel. Location is ideal for Fleecehaven and Exmoor.

Hello guys, so, myself, my brother and my girlfriend were excited to book a last minute table for a roast dinner as many other local pubs we called were fully booked… this probably should have been our first warning. It’s a carvery set up where a kind man cuts you slices of your chosen meat. The meat for me is important in any roast dinner and unfortunately here the beef was like eating a chewy wet marigold glove. The pork was petty tasteless and from there it got worse. Little tip for the chef would be to add more water to the smash mixture and to try making the Yorkshire puddings less like a an undercooked cake. Staff were quite pleasant although one young lady sang ‘I will get the chef for you’ in an annoying tone which didn’t lift any spirits. The restaurant was clean and the views were very pleasant and this pub is a good place to go for a drink. I also believe the standard food menu is good but I was particularly disappointed in the Sunday roast. 2 stars.

We had a very nice stay at The Poltimore Inn. We were in North Devon for a family funeral nearby and stayed here for two nights. My mother was very happy with her room in the pub itself and I was very happy in my lodge room which was warm and spacious. Beds are huge and very comfortable. Shower is nice and powerful. Breakfast is included and was delicious (fantastic sausages!) We had dinner at the Inn on both nights and the quality of the cooking and the produce was extremely high and locally sourced. Staff are without exception welcoming, kind, considerate, and efficient. Having stayed elsewhere in South Molton on previous family visits , we agree the Poltimore Inn will be our first choice in future.

Four of us stopped on a Tuesday evening for our dinner, one of our party is a vegan, there was a choice of two vegan meals and sadly one was out of stock but the vegan soup was delicious, the other 3 meals were also very good.
It is a lovely pub, we ate in the dining room which has an amazing view.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is no car park but parking is opposite the pub.
I highly recommend this pub and if in the area again I would definitely visit.

We were staying in the area and it was a last minute decision to go out. Phoned the pub and was greeted warmly whilst booking the table.
Arrived at the pub and we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome and were then shown to our seats. The restaurant itself is in a great setting with beautiful views. Both of us went for the carvery option which included good quality meat and a good selection of veg, the red cabbage in particular was very tasty indeed. We followed that with a chocolate orange tart and sticky toffee pudding and both were delicious.
All in all we had a lovely time with good home cooked food and great service. A bill of £36 for 2 roasts, 2 deserts and 2 drinks was very reasonable as well. But more than anything the 4 members of staff we spoke to were a delight which really made the occasion!

We were a group of sixteen away on Exmoor needing a good meal after a cold day out. The Poltimore Inn provided was welcoming and friendly, exactly what we were after. I had booked a couple weeks before and we ordered on the evening. The food came out all together and ready to eat for us as a large group. The most popular choice being the home made pie, this being a great recommendation. The gammon steak, burgers, fish and chips were also very decent meals.
The bar of the pub is a tradition country pub set up with a dart board, pool table and solid furniture. So gives a real feel of being an active Exmoor country pub. the restaurant area is out the back, open roomy and more modern in decor and furniture.
Definitely make your way here if you are in the area.

Dropped in for lunch and was so glad we did. The food is outstanding, we had fish and chips (small plate) and burger and chips. The food is amazing, probably one of the best fish and chips I've had. The lovely lady behind the bar is so friendly, she made us feel so welcomed. Even though we didn't pre-book, I can imagine this pub gets very busy because of the quality of food and service. A very big thank you to the great team of people they have working there, can't wait to return.

After reviewing exceptional feedback on Trip Advisor we decided to call into the Poltimore Inn in North Molton for lunch on the way to a short break in Woolacombe. We had not visited before and it was a Monday afternoon but we received a very warm welcome and were very pleasantly pleased with the high standard of the food.
The pub had started serving a range of burgers last week and we both decided to have the chilli burger which was absolutely delicious and one of the best we have tasted.
Over the last couple of years the pub has erected some lodges in their grounds and we will certainly consider a return visit incorporating a stay in one of these pods to enable us to explore the local area and sample the range of beers available.

We had a three night stay in one of the pub's pods. Snowdrop Lodge was very clean, well-equipped and had stunning views across the valley. Tea, coffee, hand sanitiser and toiletries were provided. Breakfast in the pub was included in the room rate and there was plenty of choice, both cooked and continental style. We also ate in the restaurant each evening. The menu is varied, includes vegetarian options, and the helpful staff were able to accommodate my food allergy. Overall, a great stay in a COVID-secure pub and we will definitely stay there again.

Unfortunately this was not a great experience. Starting with the positives. The food seemed home cooked and portion sizes were good.
On the down side the tables were sticky (even more upsetting in our new Covid world!) and the staff were very slow. It was clear they were inexperienced however 2 different waitresses walked past our finishes plates 3 times before clearing them!!
Very slow to offer a second drink to my partner who finished his first fairly early in our time there.
Did not stay for dessert!!

Nestled just north of South Molton this inn is amazing with lodges out the back.We were shown to our lodge which was the bluebell which had a double bed toilet and large shower. We were also provided with a electric kettle tea and coffee and tv and a beautiful view over looking the fields. Breakfast in the morning consisted of a choice of cereals tea coffee fruit drink and full English with locally sourced food.On Sunday lunchtime they do a carvery and in the week a choice of home cook meals I give this little gem a 5 * for the food and hospitality Mr & Mrs F Harding
