This delightful pub in a delightful town delivers great beer and fabulous sandwiches. We tend to go out of our way to have lunch here whenever we are in the area,

Had a really good meal here with 3 friends, the staff were excellent and made our evening one to remember. The building is quirky and sympathetically renovated, the restaurant was particularly busy that night, but was quickly served with drinks so the wait for food passed pleasantly. Would certainly go again

Lovely dinner catching up with my eldest daughter. Good food, freshly cooked and full of flavour. Served by several waitresses / waiters all were friendly and helpful. Charlie keeps them on their toes and always takes time to chat to his guests which is great. My haddock was particularly tasty, Also praised was the steak and the treacle tart. I... More

I booked a table for six (for my two cousins, our wives and myself) for lunch on 29th of March. We take it in turns to arrange a gathering two or three times a year and this time it was down to me. My wife and I tried quite a few restaurants and picked the Eight Bells. I'm delighted to... More

Didn't fancy cooking but thought I had left it too late for a roast out!! Walked in and ordered a drink and tried the "I know it's a bit late, but....." approach and we were rewarded with an "of course we can provide you with a roast, which one of our 4 meats would you like and how would you... We are quite a large family expanding now with spouses and a grandson. We added to the mix my eldest daughter's in laws . The plan was to have lunch at the 8 Bells for Mothers Day and it was perfect. We were given a table for 10 in a lovely space! The choice of food was extensive and the... More

What more can I really say? This is a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. We dropped by after an afternoon F Audley End to watch the Rugby. Good food and Guinness on tap. What more could you want?

There was 6 of us booked in for Sunday lunch. We were in the bar area because the restaurant was fully booked. I have to say the food did take a long time to come out, but they were busy. Service was solid and kept asking if we needed more drinks etc. Quality of the food was also good, you... More

The Eight Bells Saffron WaldenWe've recently taken on this beautiful pub in this beautiful town with the aim of making it a really friendly place to meet for a drink or a bite to eat.We think that's what a great pub is all about – somewhere that's warm and welcoming where you're just as welcome to read the paper over a pint or meet friends for a drink after work as you are to sit down for a three course meal or come for a celebration dinner.Happily, you can do all of that here. We've taken the classic features of this wonderful original 16th century barn and sensitively restored them to make The Eight Bells a pub anyone can enjoy. Step inside and you'll find lots of cosy spots to sit back and relax, and, if the mood takes you, have a plate of good, honest home-cooked food. Behind the new-look Eight Bells is an award-winning team of people who have lots of experience in running really great pubs and making sure everyone has a good time. Our chefs are in the kitchen cooking the delicious dishes on our seasonal menu fresh every day, there's a friendly team, behind the bar and in the eatery and all of them are working hard to make your visit as enjoyable as it possibly can be. Join us soon for great food and drink and warm, friendly service.
