Booked a table here last minute for lunch on a Saturday and we were in for a real treat. The seafood particularly the oysters were lovely. The staff here are super friendly and relaxed. We all had a brilliant lunch good wine and thoroughly enjoyed this quirky place. Can't wait to return.

Droped in on off chance, staff couldn't been more helpful, great bustling atmosphere and the food out of this world. Definately come back and recommend with hesitation.

Individual flair abounds here. Booked for 4 with lunchtime lobsters. They come either grilled with garlic butter or thermidor. Great chips and a small tasty salad to accompany. Chose Poully Fume from the list at £29. Plain tables and chairs, buzzy bar and charming service. Easy parking on the quay a few yards away. Next time might go for a... More

I recently travelled to Harwich, solo, on a business trip. Having travelled extensively, I'm not often inspired to write reviews but I feel the Alma is such a departure from the normal that it deserves mention. Firstly, the rooms. I stayed in the "Kingsfords Cabin". Ideal for solo travelers, it lives up to its billing as a small room. Don't... More

Our large family party had a meal at the Alma. We can not fault the food in anyway we throughly enjoyed our starters and mains our only disappointment was the service. Had the staff been more attentive and forthcoming we would have stayed for deserts and coffee however once our mains had been cleared we didn't see any staff, shame... More

We were a little late getting our act together regarding New Year but having had a great 60th Birthday bash at the Alma we gave them a call and were delighted that they still had one room left and a couple of spaces for dinner. The room had recently been refurbished and was very comfortable indeed and decorated in a... More

I know that even in the best of restaurants, you win some, you loose some, and you can't get it right every time. As for our meal, frankly we loved it, and we also liked the rather quirky characterful environment of this present day, yesteryear, pub come restaurant. It attracted both locals and those of us travelling through. It gets... More

Would like to say how good the steak was. You chooses your size from a blackboard and cooked to your liking. Comes with homemade chips and wilted spinach on the steak. Not the cheapest but the quality was very good and cooked perfect. Was recommend and I will return.

Great food and reasonably priced what more can you want. Environment was somewhat on the quirky side but made a change from eating in chain pubs & restaurants. Don't want to praise the place too much as I don't want it full up next time we visit and can't get in.
