About
A traditional rural pub, surrounded by countryside but easy to travel to. The Kilcot was built in the 1690's and was totally derelict 10 years ago. It was bought by a local family. The pub was refurbished by local craftsmen, using local materials and that ethos still continues today. Great food, excellent wine and local cider are all available.

We went to the Kilcot today for Sunday lunch. We arrived and were seated promptly. We had to wait for my parents to join us as they got caught in flooding which delayed them by 25 mins the Kilcot was accomadating and didn't rush us at all. My parents and I had the Roast Beef and my husband had the lamb it was beautifully cooked. We were told it was cooked rare and if that was ok with us, which it was.
We had a great selection of vegetables which were very yummy and complemented the meats well. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding, brownie and crumble between us. Again beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We were able to sit and chat after our meal and didn't feel as if we had to get up and go like we have in other restaurants. The staff were very polite and easy to speak to checking on us and topping up drinks etc.
I would definitely recommend The Kilcot ☺️

We was on a short break in the area and booked the Kilcot inn on line before we left as it was local and we didn’t want the fuss of trying to find a restaurant after a long drive but we couldn’t of been happier with our choice.
We walked into a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. The menu catered for all tastes, my partner opted for the steak and I chose the mammoth mixed grill with generous portion sizes all round.
The starters were amazing and the main was 5 star.
Would highly recommend this quaint and beautiful establishment, we enjoyed it so much that we rebooked for the following day before we left.
We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed and friendly atmosphere for some after our meal as we felt so welcomed.
Highly recommend with 5 stars all the way.

The pub is under new ownership and I have to say we had an excellent meal on Saturday. I had salmon in a gorgeous sauce and my friend and husband had steak which were both cooked to perfection . Puddings were delicious too. The staff were were friendly , tables were well spaced out and it had a lovely atmosphere . Would definitely recommend it

Not normally one for writing bad reviews. Its best just not to go back or speak to the staff personally.
On this occasion we did speak to the staff but it got us nowhere.
We have always had very good experiences here and I’m not sure what has happened to the place? Has the chef and waiting staff changed ?
Firstly the vegetarian option was very dry it did not come with gravy.. We were told they don’t do it. What is the point in offering a vegetarian option with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes if there is no gravy? Just mix some bisto with hot water ? The vegetarian quiche was soggy and inedible. The waiting staff did offer to change when shown but we were told it would probably come out the same.
The gravy that came with the meat dishes was like water. The roast potatoes were hard inside and soft on the outside.
The meat was so thin almost wafer thin it looked like the meat you get in school dinners and would not have been out of place in the sandwich filler section at Tesco.the only positives I can say is the broccoli and mash was tasty.
There was one poor waiter doing all the serving even on big tables . So by the time all the food and got to the table. it had started to go cold.
This whilst the young waitresses just stood at the bar chatting to other staff.
Then the worst part. Having to pay for it. For this awful meal it was £77! For 1 vegi inedible quiche, one lamb , 1 pork and 2 children’s meals .
I think business have the right to charge good prices for good locally sourced food. However this meal wasn’t worth anything like that.
I’m not sure but I think we may have been charged for 2 course however no one said anything to us and we ended up leaving before they even cleared are plates because sat there for ages. Very sad. Won’t be back. Always loved going here

Food and service absolutely dreadful. My wife and I visited and ordered the pite and chips each. The chef had run out of pies but instead of informing us my wife and I were each served half a pie (he had simply cut the pie in half) and setved with about 4 chips. We were absolutely chocked and frankly insulted. We also ordered mustard which arrived half an hour late but the staff still served it sedpite us both having long finished our half pie meals (if you can call them 'meals') - this place is an aboslute sham and we not only feel cheated but utterly annoyed that a placed can have the arrogance to defraud its customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Having read your review I believe you have failed to mention probably the most important factor that explains very well why you and your wife received half a pie each. As you will know we have an extensive menu full of main meals and dishes that we serve all day. We also have a lunch time section of Sandwiches, Salads and Light Lunch options. On the main meal section is a pie option and on the Light Lunch option is the same pie option. The difference in price of £3.00 suggests that it will be a smaller portion as well as the title 'Light Lunch' suggests the same. Therefore, if you have ordered the Light Lunch option as both you and your wife did then surely you did not expect to receive a whole pie? We only cook whole individual pies but they are large enough to serve half of one as a Light Lunch option. Maybe we should have explained to you when you ordered your meals that the pie you were ordering was a Light Lunch option so for that I apologise. I also know that there were more than 4 chips on your plates. We serve our children's meals with more than 4 chips. Our menu is very clear and not designed to mislead our customers. After you and your wife finished your meals I asked you both if everything was ok and you asked if it was normal to serve half a pie on a meal. I explained all of the above to you at the time which you appeared to accept. If you were as unhappy as you now say you were then maybe it would have been better to have said so at the time. Thank you.

We used to love visiting the Kilcot on our way to Wales but sadly won’t be returning. The food and atmosphere has always been lovely but was severely lacking this visit. The bar was filled with workmen shouting and swearing, creating an intimidating atmosphere and staff who seemed totally indifferent and clueless.
The food was mostly inedible. The fish dish we were served was so salty it couldn’t be eaten. The chicken skewers (apparently one of their most popular dishes) were dry, chewy and served with totally mismatched sauces. The reason I am giving them two starts was that the manager did agree to take these items off the bill. The pricing structure has also been changed with items no longer individually priced. You can pick two or three courses. For the quality the prices are too high.

Was looking forward to going to the Kilcot Inn, looked at booking many places locally but chose here because of the reviews and supposedly great menu choice.
Firstly really disappointed with the evening menu choice not half of what was on the website and just 1 special..
Ordered the Camembert sharing starter with baked apples and bread, for a start it only came out with 2 really small pieces of bread, really don’t know how they class that for sharing ?The baked apple was just a few slices of raw apple placed on top and the Camembert was horrible.
The mains were ok but small portions and supposed to had asparagus but had broccoli instead.
Had the fruit berry sundae and brownies for dessert. The brownie was hard like cake and not gooey at all, not the nicest at all and the sundae, well I’ve never seen a sundae glass so small it was not much taller or wider than an egg cup !!
Staff were friendly and polite, but overall we all were really disappointed with our food, after looking at so many other places, wish I had chose somewhere else, would not recommend.

We popped in for a light lunch yesterday (4th Sep) and what we had was perfect in flavours, presentation and in particular an ideal quantity. Evidently a popular dining venue judging by the number of people turning up after us. Above all the best was the very welcoming and attentive several members of staff present. We shall certainly return another day.

We called in early one wet, windy Monday evening in October - and The Kilcot was already busy! Luckily the highly efficient staff managed to find us a table for two. The menu made a pleasant change - lots of unusual and very tempting variations on offer. The food was excellent and tasty. We did have a hiccup with one of our meals, but the staff could not have been more helpful and apologetic. We would definitely recommend this pretty Inn and hope to return when we are next in the area .

It’s wonderful when somewhere exceeds expectations and this country pub did.. in spades. So many so called gastro pubs fail to deliver but The Kilcot delivers wonderful food in generous portions with outstanding service. No failure in sight.
So to the details.. I’m fussy about my wine and while they may not have a huge cellar, they have a great choice of wines by the glass (my choice was an excellent Marlborough Sav and an equally good Rioja) and they have better by the bottle.
We had a great choice for dinner but we both went for the steak and ale pie which may sound boring but on this occasion was nothing but oh so tasty!
Now to the service.. I train customer service which makes me a pain in the rear but I was so impressed with this team. They didn’t make one mistake and were friendly and personable.
So, in short.. we recommend and we will be back!!!

Was staying close on a weekend break and had booked for dinner...friendly welcome at the door shown to our table and it was dog friendly which we needed so all good. Ordered from the two courses for a set price and think it was great value for the money, my partner had the pate for a starter which was tasty , I had the sausage and mash main which was nice and my partner had the steak. I had a dessert after the chocolate brownie and clotted cream ice cream which was amazing.
The drinks and food we found reasonably priced overall , service friendly and accommodating and the surroundings were comfortable.
On the next day we were struggling to find somewhere for Sunday lunch so we called to see if we could get in and they remembered us and found us a table and we had a lovely Sunday roast the beef was perfect, only thing missing was cauliflower cheese which would have been nice , but it was still all good and I had the brownie dessert again as it was sooo nice !!

Excellent early Saturday afternoon meals served professionally and cooked to perfection. Generous choice of lunch time meals, very pleased with my vegan mixed smoked beans on toasted focaccia. Quality wines stocked with suggested recommendations on menu next to many of the dishes. Location conveniently close to the M50.

Incredibly professional- COVID policy , overall a very nice meal both main courses venison and pork belly cooked to a high standard , not sure about the Hereford hop soufflé seemed to be missing the actual Hereford hop. Dessert was very nice chocolate brownie.
Worth another visit . Beautiful pub lovely staff and excluding the soufflé very nice visit .

Very good service but was busy.. which is good of course but had to wait 15 mins or so for drinks.
2 courses for around £20, drinks expensive, 1 glass white wine and a pint lager was £14.00 2 courses each came to £55:00 all in.
We had sirloin steak with a very watery peppercorn sauce, and the cornfed chicken breast was tough.
Starters very disappointing, there wasn’t a choice not to have a starter within the menu, we chose courgette with a cold jar base caramelized onion, a few leaves with tin chick peas thrown over the top.
Shame actually as the surroundings were nice and the place was clearly busy.
We are foodies and we do like quality food when we eat out.. but we would want good local cooked from scratch food at this price, after all, there is a lot of competition within this area… customers make their choice. This would not be one of ours.

The food was mediocre and lacked in flavour from what is presented as a top restaurant in the area. Only 1 staff member was wearing a face mask although trip advisor states all staff will in public areas.
Our table felt like it had just been added to the only available space which was in the generally thoroughfare for all staff
