Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kirton Cottage is fairly unique these days. The menu is varied and excellent, including novel dishes and interesting variations on some more standard items (e.g. beetroot Wellington and mince pie cheesecake!). Superb food delivered in unpretentious surroundings and not expensive. This restaurant is a little...gem; we’ll definitely be back!More

Another visit to the Kirton Cottage and the whole experience was again fantastic. We both had fillet steak which just melted in the mouth, cooked to perfection, we are booked in for next month, we can't wait.

Wow. This was the tastiest and most impressive dining experience I’ve had for ages. The prices are also very reasonable. 3 friends had roast lunch, one the vegan option. The meat was delicious, the veg so fresh and the cauli cheese and roasties sublime. The...gravy was beautifully rich. The wine was good. I loved the decor, crockery, glassware and cutlery here. So much attention to detail. The service was brilliant. Oh, and the dessert - generous helpings and so tasty. We left feeling full and very spoiled. It was fabulous. Highly recommended.More

We had dinner at this cosy and quaint restaurant based on recommendations from locals at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant (where we couldn’t get a table). I’m so glad we ended up here! The service was top notch. Very attentive but not overbearing or obtrusive. The...atmosphere of this restaurant is like dining in a friend’s fancy home. They use beautiful china dishes and set the table so nicely that I felt very underdressed! But it was not a problem as despite how pretty it is, it is also very casual and welcoming. I loved how quiet it was too. We could have a conversation and hear each other which was a nice break from the more loud pubs (which we love too but sometimes you want quiet). Now the food…what a treat! From the fresh bread and fancy butter to the wide range of options, you will be hard pressed to choose one as they all sound so good. We each had a vegetarian alternative to beef Wellington (one was beet root with a wine sauce and the other was a mushroom with cheese sauce). Both were delicious! As were the potatoes and veggies. Just perfect! What a gem!More

This cosy restaurant is situated in the village of Kirton, which is close to Boston.I am delighted it is nearby for us and involves little travelling but I have to say if it were an hour away we would go to it as it’s our...first choice every time for good food and excellent service. Our granddaughter was leaving for Uni in a few days so decided to take her and her dad for lunch on Wednesday the 13th September 2023. She had worked there for two years as a waitress under the guidance of Laura and loved her job. It was quite a treat for her to be a diner ot the first time. My husband was the only one of us to choose a starter of Leak and Potato soup served with an individual hot mini loaf and flower shaped portion of butter. I chose Salmon Wellington with new potatoes and white wine sauce, Victoria decided on steak which she said was fabulous, with triple cooked chips and petite vine tomatoes, her dad had scampi with cod bites and Ambrish the chef cooked my veggie husband a lovely veg omlette as he wanted a lite bite, and we shared a dish of beautifully cooked carrots, green beans and Romenescu. We devoured every bite that we were served and the only thing sent back to the kitchen was the stalk from Victorias tomatoes! It would have been rude not to have finished off with a sweet, so Gary and I had the syrup sponge and custard, and Victoria the almond and chocolate tart with ice cream. My husband declined on the grounds of him being on a low sugar diet. Victoria and her dad had coffees and I seriously could not have managed another mouthful of anything so didn’t. This restaurant is lovely if you have a special celebration as nothing is too much trouble for Laura nor Ambrish owner and chef. His skills are extraordinary and you will be assured of wonderful food whether it be a weekday lunch, Sunday lunch or Evening dinner. All I know is that we shall return very soon and visit often, so thank you both, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. OMore

We visited this evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were charmed by the intimacy and quaintness of this cosy venue. The waitress was attentive to our needs at all times. The starters (we both had the Portobello mushrooms, one with garlic and mozzarella and...the other with bacon and Stilton sauce) were tasty, but the large amount of salad and dressing seemed superfluous to these dishes. For the main course we had the venison steak on crushed new potatoes and I had the sea bass fillets with a white wine and prawn sauce on a bed of crushed new potatoes plus we had a separate serving of lovely veggies. Both meals were tasty overall but we have to concur with a recent Blog about the over-use of sauces/gravy - less is more! At least give diners an opportunity to add more or hold back if they so choose. My husband was very disappointed with the large quantity of lumpy gravy sauce served with the excellent venison. My meal had too much sauce which was very heavy in texture to be placed atop sea bass I felt. We were both too full for pudding. The portion sizes sre generous. The Chilean Sauvignon blanc was lovely and the miniature warm loaves served with butter shaped into a rose was a lovely touch. I wanted to give this meal a 3.5, as there was much to admire, but the salad with dressing already added plus the quantity of sauce/quality of these plus the gravy forced a lower grade sadly.More

First time of visiting Kirton Cottage, why did it take me so long, and it won't be my last. I was so impressed I've booked for Christmas Day with friends. The service and food were both excellent. Fantastic menu choices, cooked to order, delicious vegetables...(and not charged extra like some places), very imaginative desserts. Such a quirky place for dinner. A fabulous hidden gem lies behind a plain facade. I can't wait to return.More

We came here on Sunday to celebrate a family members bday , there was 6 of us in total and we all chose the Sunday lunch apart from myself ,who choose the salmon dish . My salmon dish was perfectly cooked and delicious and the...Sunday roast had a great range of meats to choose from and looked amazing. We all choose puddings and I can honestly say the treacle sponge is one of the best I’ve ever tasted and I’ve had plenty . The service from start to finish was excellent and they could not do enough for us. So if you are looking for a tasty meal in pleasant surroundings this is the place for you .More

Yes there is car parking adjacent to the restaurant, and most certainly spaces on the roadways nearby. The parking at the Kirton town hall is now chargeable and I would recommend you avoid that

Unfortunately no they are not, there is no outside area to sit either. There are plenty of other dog friendly places in the same area.
