We stumbled upon this little restaurant almost by accident as we were looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch that wasn’t a traditional pub. We were not disappointed. You are warmly welcomed from the second you step into this quaint little, unassuming building. There was a good choice of starters, mains and puddings - I had turkey while hubby had the lamb. Normally, when it comes to a roast, the accompanying vegetables can be a bit sparse but we were pleasantly surprised by not only the quantity, but the fact they were cooked perfectly and the roast potatoes were to die for. The ginger sponge and custard was amazing and the treacle tart excellent. We couldn’t fault the service - attentive but not intrusive and the bill was extremely reasonable. Given the quality of food on offer, we will definitely be back!

Had the most wonderful lunch in celebration of a very dear friends birthday at The Kirton Cottage today. My goodness, Ambrish is a most talented chef and the meals for all of us appeared from the kitchen in the capable hands of the lovely Laura. We were spoiled for choice with a super menu to choose from and I had the lamb cutlets which were cooked to perfection.Amongst others choices were salmon, cod, steak and gammon, and beetroot wellington. Each dish had individual sauces or gravy and were accompanied by new potatoes or very crispy chips. The veg were in plentiful supply and comprised of carrots, cauliflower, and romanesco, a cross between cauliflower and broccoli. Amidst the happy chatter from the guests retro music could just be heard quietly playing in the background yet not interfering at all with the chat. Laura attended to our every need, topping up wine, serving drinks, refilling the carafes of water, whilst we knew Ambrish was beavering away in the kitchen. The choice of desserts was very tempting, and by the time we had eaten generous portions of delicious yumminess we were faced with the proverbial birthday cake! Gracious me,it would have been rude not to have had a slice of chocolate cake now wouldn’t it! All in all it was a memorable meal, served in the delightful Kirton Cottage waited on by the lovely Laura and cooked by the amazing Ambrish.
How lucky are we to have this exceptional restaurant literally on our doorsteps in the quiet village of Kirton!
We look forward to returning soon.

So lucky to have such a restaurant locally . The food and the whole experience is above the 5 star review we can give . Organising all our Christmas parties has been made so easy from start to finish with such attention to detail in helping to plan to the amazing meals we have had. Thankyou both so much . Can’t wait to return in the New Year and especially to next Christmas !

We visited this evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were charmed by the intimacy and quaintness of this cosy venue. The waitress was attentive to our needs at all times. The starters (we both had the Portobello mushrooms, one with garlic and mozzarella and the other with bacon and Stilton sauce) were tasty, but the large amount of salad and dressing seemed superfluous to these dishes. For the main course we had the venison steak on crushed new potatoes and I had the sea bass fillets with a white wine and prawn sauce on a bed of crushed new potatoes plus we had a separate serving of lovely veggies. Both meals were tasty overall but we have to concur with a recent Blog about the over-use of sauces/gravy - less is more! At least give diners an opportunity to add more or hold back if they so choose. My husband was very disappointed with the large quantity of lumpy gravy sauce served with the excellent venison. My meal had too much sauce which was very heavy in texture to be placed atop sea bass I felt. We were both too full for pudding. The portion sizes sre generous. The Chilean Sauvignon blanc was lovely and the miniature warm loaves served with butter shaped into a rose was a lovely touch. I wanted to give this meal a 3.5, as there was much to admire, but the salad with dressing already added plus the quantity of sauce/quality of these plus the gravy forced a lower grade sadly.

I do not usually write reviews but felt that Kirton Cottage was so good I had to let other people know about this little gem. I went for lunch with two colleagues yesterday. We choose this restaurant as the reviews were good and we were not disappointed. The restaurant felt very cosy and homely and the waitress was very professional and attentive. The food was the best I have had in a long while, it was cooked to perfection, there was a good choice with good size portions and was very reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to recommend the Kirton Cottage.

We booked here for my mother’s birthday after reading great reviews and we were not disappointed. We chose from the lunch menu and everyone enjoyed their meals so much we decided to book for my brother’s birthday too for a Sunday lunch. I can honestly say it was the best roast dinner I’ve ever had out.
The service is fantastic with staff always on hand as there are not too many tables. The table is dressed in a very traditional and classy way making it feel like a much more expensive dining experience than the very reasonable prices would suggest. The overall ambience is very relaxed and welcoming and the decor makes you feel like a guest in someone’s home.
Highly recommend.

We had dinner at this cosy and quaint restaurant based on recommendations from locals at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant (where we couldn’t get a table). I’m so glad we ended up here!
The service was top notch. Very attentive but not overbearing or obtrusive. The atmosphere of this restaurant is like dining in a friend’s fancy home. They use beautiful china dishes and set the table so nicely that I felt very underdressed! But it was not a problem as despite how pretty it is, it is also very casual and welcoming.
I loved how quiet it was too. We could have a conversation and hear each other which was a nice break from the more loud pubs (which we love too but sometimes you want quiet).
Now the food…what a treat! From the fresh bread and fancy butter to the wide range of options, you will be hard pressed to choose one as they all sound so good. We each had a vegetarian alternative to beef Wellington (one was beet root with a wine sauce and the other was a mushroom with cheese sauce). Both were delicious! As were the potatoes and veggies. Just perfect!

Never been to this restaurant previously and very pleasantly surprised and impressed with all aspects of our visit. The choice on the menu was extremely nice and would appeal to most people this combined with great quality food and more than adequate food portions was a really nice experience.
The friend we went with had previously been and spoke very highly of this establishment and we were certainly not disappointed in any aspect of are visit.
The food was so tasty and presented in a lovely way and combined with good old fashioned service was just so nice and we will definitely return to this fine establishment thank you so much.

What a wonderful place, the ambience, the service and as for the food it was exceptional. We took friends who were visiting from the south coast and they were highly delighted and soaked up the atmosphere also. Every meal that came to the table was wonderfully presented, and our taste buds were delighted. We all ended up having 3 courses followed by the nicest Irish coffees they have had in a long time.
We can highly recommend Kirton Cottage and we will be back soon. Many thanks.

I booked here for lunch and dinner on the same day some time in advance because we were planning a trip to see friends and relatives around this area. Ambrish was extremely prompt and helpful in replying to my emails and I was very pleased to confirm that the reviews were spot on. In addition, the service was efficient and friendly. We and our guests had a number of different things and our only problem was that the portions were too large to manage more than two courses at a time! We live in London but locals should particulArly appreciate the good value lunch menu

Three couples from three corners of Lincolnshire and one couple from Cambridgeshire chose the Kirton Cottage for our March "Luncheon Club" catch-up meeting. We were made very welcome from the start, not rushed or hastled in any way. Excellent and varied lunch menu, spacious tables, too. You really should give it a try.

This was not our first visit to Kirton Cottage, and it won’t be our last either. The food served at New Year’s Day lunch was (as usual) exceptional. Everything is cooked to order and served to the table piping hot! There was a great choice on the menu, truly something for every taste. My husband had the steak and said it was the best he’d had in a long time and his chips looked epic. I admit to a bit of food envy! I enjoyed the abundance and choice of vegetables and my chicken and sauce were truly delicious. The service is calm and quiet but very efficient and the balance struck between being attentive and leaving you to enjoy your meal is perfect. Can hardly wait for our next visit. Thank you

My wife & I went to Kirton Cottage for lunch as part of her birthday celebrations and we were extremely delighted with the whole experience. The service was first class and the food was very enjoyable. The couple that own and run it are lovely people and obviously aim to please their customers, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is perfect ! I truly can not fault it.
13 of us and food was excellent ! All our food came out at same time, piping hot(I do have a pet hate with cool or cold food) I had the fillet stake it was cooked to perfection medium rare,the chips were amazing. Pepper corn sauce was yummy!! Great service great food totally recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
