I have visited Porlock and Porlock Weir since I was 10, some err hmmm 45 years! It never fails. I have seen landlords come and go and each bring their own stamp on life at the Bottom Shop. Always an establisment on our agenda to visit everytime we stay in the area and this April was no different. An extensive... More

Visited for early evening meal, the pub is very traditional and had a good selection of ales, food was served very promptly and fresh, we had the cod & chips, smoked salmon risotto and "ship" burger - all were very tasty

We drove to Porlock Weir after a 6 mile walk around Dunkery Beacon. We both eat out a lot and we have to say that the mussels were the best we have had for a long time. Absolutely beautiful. The warm crusty bread was also excellent.

I chose an awful day to arrive in Porlock - it was chucking it down with rain. So booked into the Miller's at the Anchor and popped next door to the Bottom Ship. It was a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were very attentive - it can be difficult when you go to a pub on your own.... More

We only had a drink here whilst sheltering from the rain but what a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and such a quaint old world pub.

I love Porlock Weir. It just seems a place a step away from other places. The pub is original, from the latched doors to the panel lying and thick walls that have stood the test of time and the elements. Food is great, I don't know that many places confident enough to sell fish finger baguettes and salad, and the... More

Dear Sue, Thank you for your kind review - we had an issue with our bread supplier a couple of weeks ago and this resulted in a negative review but we are back on track with a wonderful 5 star from you. I do wish we could do something with the toilets as I agree they are very small but... More

Popped into the Ship just before checking in to a hotel next door for a few drinks prior to our stay. It's a really quaint pub that appeals to both locals and visitors. A really warm welcome was given by the staff at the pub and it had good quality larger on offer - Korev - which just so happens... More

We went here for Easter Sunday lunch and although they were busy (luckily we booked) the food was great and came without long delay. The service was superb and the atmosphere in the pub was great. Highly recommend.
