Disappointed that a pint of diet coke is £4.20!! Avoid unless you want a dent in your wallet. Otherwise, a nice location in a beautiful part of Chichester.

Just one word, excellent, we stayed for four nights for my wifes birthday, I booked the room but she insisted on not knowing the name/location. I was a tad unsure then, I like second opinions but crossed my fingers this time. No need to worry, location great, room perfect, food out of this world. I am a vegetarian and worried... More

A group of 12 of us had a reservation for lunch today (September 10th ). Comments follow from one of us:- The table was not large enough resulting in five persons on either side being totally cramped into a space to fit three or possibly four persons - we had four people sitting at the corners! One person ordered a... More

Superb as usual! The Scallops & the Lamb to die for. Superb choice of decent wine reasonably priced. Charles (the owner) entertaining & knowledgable. The cottages are lovely & are a home from home. We will absolutely return. Martin &Julie.

As regular visitors to the Chichester Festival, we had always promised ourselves lunch at The Royal Oak in East Lavant and finally managed to get there earlier this month. It proved to be hugely overrated and a massive disappointment. We both decided to play safe and order the burger, which turned out to be not a burger at all, but... More

For the money, the portions are small and the quality average. 'Whitebait' were too large and more like sprats, and were in a batter coating that had no apparent seasoning. Mussels for the main course were few in number (I've had more in other places as a starter) over-cooked, and had a bare spoonful of sauce in the dish. Three... More

It reminded me of why Friday & Saturday nights are not good days to eat out. We went on Friday early evening without a booking but took the last table. Service begun excellently, maybe too fast, as the nibbles arrived seconds before the starter. The whitebait starter I had was one of the best I have eaten, and the portion... More

We made an on line booking ,which we had had confirmed, but our booking wasn't found. However we were found a table, it was very busy and they had problems with their computer and so service was slow. We ordered soup , which was delicious, but probably just one small ladle and bread, which we presumed came with the soup, how silly of us!... More
