The Laroch Restaurant & Bar has garnered appreciation for its well-prepared meals, with dishes such as venison, pork belly, and haggis bon bons frequently earning praise from guests. While the restaurant's exterior might not make the best first impression, the inviting and relaxed atmosphere inside has been well-received, despite mixed opinions on the ambiance. Patrons have experienced a spectrum of service quality, with reports of professional and friendly staff contrasting with occasional mentions of inattentiveness and slow service. Overall, diners find the value to be reasonable, balancing the exceptional food against the higher price points and varied service.

It was wise that we had booked as we found the restaurant full on a Sunday evening. We skipped starters and chose the special slow braised blade of beef with vegetables and pancetta in red wine jus at 16.50 and the sea bass fillet with smoked cod galette, vegetables and champagne veloute at 18.00. Both meals were beautifully prepared and presented. The sticky toffee pudding to finish was equally good. Service was polite and efficient. The only negative was the price and poor quality of a Harris gin and tonic. 8.80 for a single measure was more in keeping with a London 5 star hotel. When queried, the waiter checked with someone senior to confirm that was the correct price and was not willing to reduce the charge even though the tonic was on the flat side and served already part mixed.

Visited this pub for some lunch mid way through our holidays.First of all this hotel is very pet friendly, on arrival was greeted by the barman very friendly and helpful obviously had to do track and trace and asked to see the menu, was very surprised how much choice there was a good mix for all. We both decided to go for the 6oz Aberdeen Angus fillet steak with wild garlic butter sauce which was on the specials have to say we waited a while but in my eyes that’s a good thing as am guessing getting the meat up to room temperature before cooking. We were absolutely gob smacked by its presentation ,also the onion ,tomato and the Parmesan truffle fries, it looked fine dining , as for the steak cooked to perfection and the beef was extremely soft yes a good cut but never tried anything close to how good this was , I made sure to the barman to pass on our complements and left a well worth tip.. as for the hotel very clean and tidy excellent friendly staff.. recommend a visit wish I took pictures

The food is here is really excellent and exceeded expectations. My husband and my daughter are both coeliac and require gluten free food and the chef went above and beyond to make sure they were catered for, in fact the menu is mostly naturally gluten free anyway but he talked us through all our options to make sure we were happy and we could tell how passionate he was about the food. The staff are great and very friendly and accommodating and we will definitely be back when we visit the area again soon.

Whilst staying in the area we decided to visit the Laroch for dinner. The menu has a great selection with all tastes met. The pork belly and scallops was very tasty indeed as was the braised beef. Desserts where also very tasty. What was disappointing however was the service, when they did visit our table they where very polite and efficient, however we had no check on if our food was okay and had to wait a further 10 minutes when we had finished eating our main course. This poor service continued with desserts as when we finished we where totally ignored and I had to get up and ask for the bill. This very much spoiled what was an excellent dinnig experience. The food was great the service........ poor at best

Although there were mixed reviews on trip advisor ,We chose this restraunt because generally the food was highly rated' However our experience was not good. We ordered rib eye . The steak was like leather we asked for medium rare and it was medium. It was not presented particularly well . To worse the cutlery was a normal knife and fork and we had to ask for steak knives. Our experience may have been a one off as other meals being served looked quit well presented, overall very disappointed

I wonder whether we simply came on the wrong day as our experience was so different to all the other reviews. The whole place had zero atmosphere on arrival and this continued throughout lunchtime. We actually thought it was closed (and when you look on the internet it was saying it was closed Sunday’s?) however, we’d reserved as we thought it would be packed. Wrong. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We had the scallops for starter - they were delicious without fault and we were very excited for the main. I ordered roasted cod, samphire, potato, tomato and a bois Braden sauce. What I got was some cod, CHORIZO,gnocchi, samphire, peas, beans, sweet potato/squash and zero sauce. I am pescatarian and nowhere on the menu was chorizo mentioned otherwise I would not have ordered. I made the staff aware and the fact that it wasn’t the dish on the menu. They were ok about it. I re-ordered the haddock and chips as the rest of my family had. Chips were good. Batter was soggy and the ‘purée peas’ were simply boiled peas - for us all. Did we come to the right place? Disappointed beyond belief as I had talked a lot about coming here. Michelin starred star trained kitchen? I struggle to believe that today.

Visited here in August while on holiday in Glen Nevis and climbing Ben Nevis. Having eaten in some very expensive restaurants I can honestly say that this is better. The food is absolutely amazing, really well presented with a lot of thought about how to make the food look great. The taste matched the presentation, the Scottish Beef absolutely melted in your mouth. Followed by a chocolate and orange torte for myself and a sticky toffee pudding for hubby, both were lovely. Big shout out to the chef who we passed on our compliments to and also the two young waitresses who were working really hard. We received a fast efficient service. If you are in the area then definitely book here and if you are not in the area then it's worth travelling to!

I was on holiday in Ballachulish this week for my wife’s birthday and she read some reviews of nearby restaurants. We booked a table at the Laroch on some good reviews. We sat down in a busy restaurant and ordered our meals and my wife and son ordered the Ribeye Steak which was £27 each but since it was a special occasion we thought no problem. The steaks came and looked ok but my son asked for medium cooked and his was definitely well done My wife asked for medium to well and hers was also over cooked My son ate his and thought it was ok 5/10 but my wife had to leave half of hers as it was all fat. Normally we complain if our food isn’t good but we actually never saw another member of staff throughout the entire meal. No one asked if we needed more drinks or if everything was ok . Not once We sat another 10 mins after our meal and still no one showed so I said to my wife and daughter to go to leave and go to the car. Immediately someone came to our table. I told the young girl waiter that my wife hated her meal and she said Oh that’s a shame and handed us the bill. I paid and left very disappointed I will never eat there again and highly recommend no one else does.

Just spent the evening in this restaurant with friends while on holiday in the area. Sory to say the food is fantastic but the service is utterly appalling. We were served by two very young waitresses who with some training and supervision would probably be ok but clearly they'd had none. We sat with main course plates ready and stacked up waiting to be cleared but that was not noticed for a considerable time. We then would have like to have been offered menus to choose a dessert but that didn't happen. Eventually we were asked if we were " getting desserts" by this time we decided not to bother. Such a shame that the chefs are clearly working very hard and committed to serving excellent food but the experience is being completely spoilt by the bad service. When leaving the restaurant nobody said goodnight or thank you or hope you enjoyed your meal. We would have booked this restaurant for another night but certainly won't do that after this evening's experience.

I would have expected to be told when booking a table in a restaurant that I would be seated in the bar, so that I could make a decision whether to go elsewhere. I appreciate that food availability has to dictate what appears on the menu but I didn’t expect the food served to the table to be different to the description on the menu. The food served was bar food not restaurant quality. I would not be recommending this premises on my guest’s list of places to eat.

Waited months to visit this supposedly Michelin star restaurant after being recommended by family who had eaten here 4 times previous and highly recommended..Here goes… *Table was booked for the wrong day(restaurant closed) even tho booked in advance and confirmed! No apology for the mix up. *Table wasn’t prepared i.e missing cutlery, side plates. *Young waitress didn’t explain the menus properly. Plus didn’t give us a kids menu even though we had 2 young children with us. (We had to ask). *Starters came out 40 mins after ordering and was just ok.Nothing special. *The starter plates were removed before 2 of the party had finished eating. ( That’s a big no no for me) *Main courses were an absolute shambles. Ribeye steaks were tasteless, not cooked to what we ordered and accompanied by frozen chips! The kids chicken goujons were cheap, dry and inedible. *The plates of food were handed to us to pass down the table although the waitresses could have placed them in front of each guest. *Extremely disappointed with the whole experience from start to finish especially with the chef/owner. No apology with the cock up of the restaurant booking the wrong day and certainly nothing from him after our complaint. Although when we first entered the restaurant the chef was in the bar area he did talk about us to his staff which made me feel a bit uncomfortable as they kept looking over. We honestly are not a complaining bunch but this was an absolute disappointment of an experience and will never recommend.

Went here on a Sunday. Got there at 5:15, but it was fully booked for the night with reservations. They have a dining room, bar, and outdoor seating. After waiting ten minutes to speak with a bartender who was busy cleaning the bar top, was told to basically go away, tough luck. A local family was waiting behind us. They were greeted warmly and also told they were full, but were advised a table was open outside which was first come first served. There are only two restaurants open in Glenocoe on Sunday so we waited outside for another table to open. One did after 40 minutes. Went inside to order drinks and food. There were a few locals in front of me in line, all served quickly with a smile. My turn came and I was told to wait a moment. The bartender proceeded to clean the coffee machine and go talk to the kitchen staff for ten minutes. If we had not been waiting so long and not been so hungry I would have left. The same happened with other tourists that were also waiting for tables. The staff were actively advising guests to leave because they were full. I was shocked! We finally ordered. Got our drinks, eventually got our food. It was not great. Had a hair in one of our dishes. There’s no service outside period. It was the worst experience I’ve had in all of the UK. I wouldn’t go back if it was free. The locals don’t seem to have any issues….

We recently had dinner here which was really lovely. The building is just a typical pub, but the food was amazing and the flavours sublime! The food is excellent- flavours amazing clearly made by a very talented chef. I had the pork and the creme brûlée both were delicious! The service was excellent- we were served by a girl from New Zealand (didn't get her name) but she was lovely And very attentive. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to others. It was also great value considering the quality of the ingredients.

We had good burgers here with veggies, the latter were not seasoned at all though. Staff was really friendly and we liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. You have to make a reservation as there are very few places to eat around Glencoe and the Laroch is rather small. Prices are reasonable.

We enjoyed a lovely meal of hot & cold salmon, duck & pork terrine, confit duck, belly pork and slow braised beef. All delicious, the beef was melt in your mouth. Staff very polite and helpful, the only slight issue was my sister and my husband ordered another glass of wine each to go with their main course and despite asking again it didn’t arrive until the meals were finished. On the Covid front everyone was wearing masks and there was a one way system in place for access and egress, and sanitiser at both doors. All very good.
