This is a great pub but they do not cater for children with their dinner menu. We booked over the phone and stated it was a party of 2 adults and 2 children but nothing was said to us about there not being a children’s menu. When we arrived we were put on the worst table in the place, so near the door I kept my coat on and my husband was continuously knocked with people coming in and out of the place. We looked at the menu and couldn’t see anything for children so asked at the bar. We were told they do not do a children’s menu for dinner, they would have to prefer from the main menu. When you have a 6 and 9 year old this is not the best. We never go to chains who do fixed children’s menu (we love independent pubs)and would have been delighted if they did smaller portions from the main menu but young children do not eat the amount of food an adult does. A lot of wasted food and a large bill later I would say the food was average and the place itself great if you are given a half decent table!

We visited this establishment recently having been there a couple of times before, this time we visited Barmouth on a cold but sunny January day the town itself was unusually quiet even for this time of year, After a long walk on the splendid beach which our dog appreciated we then headed for the Last Inn, It was busy in there finding a seat was no problem though , we have always found this pub a very welcoming and cosy pub and dogs are welcome too..this in my book is what pubs should be not like those trendy pubs that echo in their cavernous interiors Our meals arrived pretty quickly despite it being busy I had a chicken curry with rice and chips plenty of chunky chicken here! The wife had a scampi and chips with a side salad. Well worth the price and a good choice of ales to be had, Wainwrights was a good choice I think, If you like your real ales then this is the place to be ..Could have stayed all afternoon but alas… it would be fair to say the staff were very welcoming and attentive , cant believe some of the negative comments if read. When we visit Barmouth this is always our first choice of venue. Dont ever be tempted to modernize the pub whatever you do its perfect as it is.

Visited this pub last night, when I arrived in Barmouth on Thursday we asked for a table for Saturday to which they advised they was booked up until Sunday. The next day I was walking past and asked again to a different member to staff that conveniently had 5pm available so we took it! We didn’t get far past the door as we was plonked in the table next to their serving hatch which was a bit crap. There was a draft down my back the whole time and it was loud with customers. When ordering my lasagna I asked to swap my chips for some garlic bread, to which I was told I couldn’t do that because apparently the garlic bread was so big. So I ordered it as a side to share with my partner, when it arrived it was only two ciabatta bread slices which is hardly big. We were rushed through the meal and was there only just over an hour. Nice place, but I did expect a better experience.

I love the Last Inn, always have, always will but today I had the fish and chips. I was in company so didn't want to make a fuss but on reflection I should have informed the staff. It's ok having a gimmicky wire net to serve it in but the most important thing in a good fish and chips is the size and quality of the fish. There was plenty of batter making it look impressive on the plate but the fish hiding inside was minuscule. No fat juicy slab of cod in there just a thin measly wedge bigged up with overcooked batter. Come on last Inn, raise your game and serve us a fish worthy of such an establishment and £11 price tag. I have had far better at the chippy next door for half the price. Let's hope next time I call that portion control has become more generous.

Returning to Barmouth from a visit to Tywyn late on a Monday afternoon my thoughts turned to finding a suitable spot for dinner. I had anticipated seeing a number of restaurants open in mid-May, but soon found out this was not to be the case. One seafood eatery was only open two days a week, others closed, whilst staff recruitment also appeared to be an issue. Eventually I came across the 15th century Last Inn (part of the Marston Group) on the road leading out of town and an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel. Front of House advised that they did not have a free table until 8.30 p.m.and in view of the ongoing situation I reserved accordingly. At the appointed time I returned with my wife and we were shown to our reserved table in a quiet area close to the bar. Drinks were served and having perused the menu we both settled for 2 Welsh sirloin steaks accompanied by fries, grilled tomato, onion rings, and a salad. Service was quick and efficient and our request for the steaks medium rare and well done complied fully with our expectations. Liquid refreshment comprised of a tonic water and two 250ml glasses of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and a Chilean Merlot. The single main course satisfied our needs; the food was flavoursome, well presented, and served by a courteous and friendly team in a clean and comfortable environment.

I’ve came here for years and it’s always been the best restaurant in Barmouth for quality food and friendly staff , always had fantastic food . We came in July and found the food expensive for inferior quality food .. there not a child menu so for two adults and two children the bill was well over £100 … everything seemed deep fried . My T-bone steak was cremated … the sweet potato fries were soggy . We were all disappointed with our food , the children barely touched theirs .. Roll on a month later and decided to give here another chance . … Arrived and asked for water for the dog and was told to go across the road to the park ( no water there ) . Then there was so many items missing from the menu it left little choice . I decided to try the fillet steak which I asked for medium -well done and was told I couldn’t and had to have it cooked medium but was assured there would be no blood .. it arrived bloody , tough and had fat on ( never had fat on a fillet before !! ) … sent it back after I cut it in half so it cooked better .. it returned much the same - ending up giving the dog the chewy fatty pieces ( total waste of £29.95 ). I asked for salad dressing , huffing and puffing by the waitress it arrived. … everything seemed too much trouble ….. We will not be coming again , found so many better places this year in Barmouth to eat .

Myself, my partner and parents went to The Last Inn on a blustery winters Friday night. The experience which this place offered us was absolutely incredible and I must say nothing like I have been to before, the staff were all friendly, accommodative and attentive- due to the small layout of the place it made it so they were constantly involved in conversation- constant joking and friendly conversation really excelled the experience. Our pints were on point, one of the nicest pints of Peroni I've had, and considering this is a tourist hotspot, the price was completely fair. I could only imagine the wine that the girls had was nice because they proceeded to smash through three of them!! While at first disappointed that they had no muscles, the starters did make up for it: battered mackerel with a lovely refreshing salad, and a prawn chilli dish, both went down a treat. The main were amazing, the two steaks filled with flavour and for an amazing price, Lasagne had a crispy top and home made feeling about it, the curry (while presented in a basic manner) was lovely, my only complaint was it could've been hotter, but flavours of all 4 of the dishes were lovely. Where The Last Inn thrives is the atmosphere, small trinkets carry the theme of the pub, making you feel like your on the lower deck of a ship, surrounded by such cool items, dim lighting, candles, whisky bottles and a lovely little bar. Drinks: 10/10 Price: 9/10 Food: 9/10 Toilets: 8/10 Staff: 10/10 We're already planning on when to come again!

Great food and great service,, I had the fillet steak , cooked to perfection (for me) cost 26.95, my wife had the lasagna and my granddaughter the tikka masala, we ate it all with no complaints, wine list not to extensive or expensive, think we paid about £25 for a Rioja, the actual menu isn’t massive, they don’t do starters or kids menu, our bill came to £90 which was 3 mains, bottle of wine , coffees and 1 double brandy, which we were happy to pay. Lively atmosphere inside made a lovely evening for us, word of warning though, you must book. Our only gripe about this place is that they are a pain for not answering the phone, there’s no email address and they don’t confirm bookings, but otherwise a great popular friendly place.

Booked this restaurant a couple of weeks previously through the phone number printed on the front of their menu (download from their website). Got there and got turned away as two members off staff explained that their automated booking system had made a reservation for some restaurant in Newtown about 60 miles away. We were also told that the same had also happened to a few other people. The Inn wasn't bothered about accomadating us and we had to seek another place to eat this evening. Thankfully, the George III at nearby Penmaen pool were happy to oblige, where we've never had a bad experience. If you do book The Last Inn at Barmouth make sure they personally confirm your booking otherwise your booking will be meaningless.

Hi, just a quick reply to clarify. The booking system isn't ours. It belongs to the other venue. We have no automated booking system. Unfortunately you booked into a different venue and there isn't anything we can do about that, as explained to you yesterday. We cannot be responsible for someone else booking the wrong pub. I also spoke to the last inn in Newtown to confirm your booking with them and cancelled it for you 👍

Absolute gem of a place. Real character pub decorated exactly how you would expect to find a pub by the seaside. We both had the Chargrilled chicken with garlic potatoes and vegetables. What can we say! Beautifully cooked chicken, really tasty vegetables that we think must have been steamed to retain that amount of taste, and beautifully prepared new potatoes with garlic. Just the right size portions and all washed down with a pint of Shipyard. The best meal we’ve eaten out in some time. Highly recommended.

We had had three recommendations to eat here so we made sure we got there for 12 today (opening time) We were so glad we did because at 12:10 they were having to turn people away. Food was excellent. All table service. Staff were great with our 3 year old. My other half had three different beers (directors/ wainwright’s and pedigree) and loved them all. We will definately make a trip back to Barmouth and visit here. Very Covid secure also. Make sure you see the lovely fountain at the back with the fish. My 3 yo loved it.

For the second Saturday on the trot we came to The Last Inn for a few drinks and a meal. The food was as excellent this time as it was the week before, the steak melted in your mouth 😋 The atmosphere inside the pub is lovely and cosy and very homely. The waitress that we had on both occasions were very friendly, so attentive, polite and went above and beyond to make our evening special. Very dog friendly too 🐶 “Our new local me thinks”

Our favourite Barmouth pub This was the best pub we visited in Barmouth during our long weekend here (in the rain and gale force winds!). Really cosy pub with friendly and helpful staff. We had a late lunch there which was great - would highly recommend the buttermilk chicken burger which was delicious. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked really good and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat there again.

We booked a table at the last inn last night having had lunch at the place dozens of times. It has always been great, dog friendly, friendly staff, good food. Not last night aside from amazing waitress. Arrived at 7.30, food arrived at 8.30. Food was cold in the main, Tagliatelle inedible, even the popadoms were dripping in oil. Called for the manager, who came on the second request, to suggest he was patronising is an understatement. Regretfully I was at the loo when he came back to provide a variety of reasons why we hadn't waited so long, popadoms are supposed to be swimming in fat and was apparently dismissive. Again it is a shame I missed him. Either this pub has so many clients that they do not need to give a damn or perhaps the chef and manager simply had a bad hair day. he did reduce the bill a degree but we still spent £90.

Normally a guaranteed a good meal, disappointing due a delay in eating. Orders were delayed by 30 minutes due a staffing issue in the kitchen. Food room 60 minutes to arrive, it was explained after 20minutes the food would be about 10 minutes. It arrived 40 minutes later with further expiation or apology. Generally the food was good, although My steak was over cooked and I would suggest not cooked by the chef. No staff available to raise the issue or order further drinks. When the bill arrived I was finally asked how the meal was, I raised my concerns politely about the food and the time delay to be told ‘I will mention it to the kitchen’ On the return with the card machine, still no apology or offer to reduce the bill, waiter looked blankly at me and advised I had to put my card in the machine! The service unfortunately let the previous experiences down.
