Lovely fish and chips. There's quite often a queue, so you may have to wait a bit, but I suppose that's testament to the quality of the food. Our go to chippy when in Barmouth.

Stunning Cod and Chips, visited 3 times on a recent holiday. Fresh, hot and tasty. Decent portions and good value at 9.00 (compared to countless other Shops] Service is very slow and they need to have two Servers - not one stood there just taking...the money.More

Quite simply one of the best portion of chips ever eaten - and we like to share a portion of chips we do :-) Well worth the queue and very worthy of the Times Top 18 placement.

Visited here whilst passing through Barmouth. We checked trip advisor prior and this and place was dated far above the others. I ordered the fish and chips and it was up there with some of the best I’ve had. The fish was perfectly cooked, the...batter was crispy and the fish flaky. The Mermaid had the best reviews for fish and chips in Barmouth and rightly so. The fish and chips were excellent. Cooked perfectly and not oily at all. Will definitely return when we’re in Barmouth.

Ordered fish, chips, mushy peas and a corned beef fritter. Honestly the best meal from a chippy we've ever had. Staff we're lovely, we ate in and were very well looked after, definitely be back the next time we come to Barmouth

I ate here two days in a row as the food was so good and reasonably priced. The chips are probably the best I’ve ever had from a chippy! The cod on the first night was well cooked with crispy light batter and the chicken...goujons deal of chips, goujons and a side for £7 was brilliant value on the second night. The southern fried gravy was peppery and delicious and the curry sauce was classic and tasty. The service was quick and friendly and I can only give the highest praise to the overall quality of the food!More

When you see a takeaway with a massive queue outside you know it’s either gonna be amazing or somehow people have been sucked in by the hype. Well let me tell you, that the 25 mins queue time was worth it. A big fillet of...cod, 2 potato scallops and a can of drink for under £8.50 is not a bad price these days, and the quality of the food was wonderful. The fish was tasty, the batter was light and crispy and it was roasting hot and tasted fresh. But the scallops, well I don’t know what they do with them but I have never had any half as good as these, beautiful. I’ve thought of visiting here before when in the town but the queue has always put me off. It won’t any more!More
