Pleasant community cafe with excellent food

Surprised but very pleased to find this community cafe serving freshly-prepared food in a shopping precinct. Well-spaced tables, spotlessly clean and a good menu. We had the chef's salmon fishcakes with salad and chips - freshly cooked and very tasty.

Friendly local cafe

Tucked away below and opposite the post office, this is a great little cafe. It has plenty of space inside and outside and is dog friendly. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and there is a great choice of gluten free sandwiches and toasties, as well as a comforting selection of sweet treats. The teas and coffees are also good :-)

Lovely cafe

Popped in here yesterday whilst in the area with our dog. We sat outside. Both had a toasted cheese and ham sandwich and a latte. Latte came out then we did wait 20 for our toasties. We’re delicious once they came and the young lady who served us was very polite. Recommend 😁

Food not as expected

Went for lunch today, ordered a chicken sandwich - the 'chicken' was highly processed and was therefore extremely unhealthy as well as unappetising. We expected what other establishments usually provide ie unadulterated 100% white breast meat. Whilst the young man serving offered a refund, a young lady appeared, insisting the sandwich was what we ordered and refused a refund. She missed the point that we found the sandwich inedible because it was highly processed and not what we expected. We then just left. On a previous visit, we ordered a smoked salmon sandwich and received flakes of salmon in the sandwich which did not taste smoked. We expected slices of salmon that tasted smoked. On another previous visit I ordered a scone, I received 2 tiny cocktail scones that had been microwaved from the deep freeze. I expected a freshly baked scone of a normal scone size, ie as is served in the Lakeside cafe. Whilst we support the ethos of community ventures, we did return a couple of times in case our disappointments were a one off, but after 3 disappointments we won't return again because the food served to us has not been as enjoyable as, we feel, reasonably expected. We do hope the management take a positive view of this review to improve customer expectation. It would be a shame if the cafe does not succeed.

Quite little cafe

We have now used this cafe a few times while visiting this town, all these visits since coming out of lock down. We have had a breakfast which was fair to good and was freshly cooked. We have also met up with friends for coffee a few times and services is very good or you have to wait some time to be served. On our last visit ordered coffee and cakes, the service was very slow with customers who came in after us getting served before us. Price wise a little on expensive side for what you get.

Something for everyone

I love a cafe which actually gives vegetarians and vegans a genuine choice of yummy food. And this cafe certainly does that. Only had a coffee and vegan brownie - totally delicious- but saw many items on the snack and lunch menu that looked tempting.

Great lunch stop

Herb Garden Cafe is a great place to stop for a drink or bite to eat while exploring the area. We had lunch after wandering around the lake. Staff are friendly and helpful and service was quick. Food is delicious too. The place had a nice busy vibe to it with everyone enjoying themselves. Full marks for the baby changing facilities too, they provided wipes, a nappy bin and a changing mat on a chest high platform which was very welcome after my son was wet through! A lot of places have non existent facilities for parents so this was great to see. Happily recommend. Many thanks

A lovely, relaxed lunch

Tucked away in a little alley not far from the railway station, the Herb Garden Café is a find. Sit inside, or bag a table on the pavement by the herb garden. Yes, there is one. Service was friendly and attentive. We sat outside and were offered water for the dogs. Our food was delicious – we both had a sandwich with brie, bacon and chutney which was accompanied by a side salad and a handful of crisps. We had the key lime pie for afters – light and moreish, with vanilla ice cream. Truly a lovely little place, particularly on a warm day as we were sheltered from the sun.

Dog Friendly and Great Food

First time here, sat outside with the dog, started raining and we were welcomed inside. Nothing too much trouble. Amazing food-toasties, baked potato, soup, quiche, sandwiches etc. But the best bit-the cakes and scones. HUGE portions, all homemade. Had to take some more home as could t choose. Have never been served such a huge piece of lemon drizzle. The water gardens are fascinating. Well worth the bargain £6 entrance fee. Will definitely come again.

We came for coffee and cake but then saw the menu -so the cakes went into compostable containers and we ordered - all home made , attention to detail ( including seeds in our salad) delicious, nutritious and all served by friendly staff . If we lived here , this would be our go to as we could not fault it. It was too yummy to do a before photo

Called in on a long drive to Tenby. The young waitress was lovely, really chatty and friendly. Ordered the drinks and a couple of sandwiches. Another middle aged couple followed us in and did the same, then sat at the next table and waited. It was not busy. I had noticed the handwritten note stating be patient due to covid and staff shortages. We waited, drank our tea and coffee and waited. We waited some more. By this point maybe 20 minutes had elapsed, remember our order was two sandwiches. My wife eventually decided to ask the nice waitress. Immediately the food appeared and it was OK. The other couple sat patiently until they also decided enough was enough. And also politely enquired about the status of their order. Again, Immediately it appeared. A few minutes later, Basil Fawlty walked to their table and asked if there was a problem? The chap was obviously surprised at his tone, and said no we have just been waiting a long time. Basil then pointed at the sign and very rudely explained that the sign tells you it will be delayed. At that he stomped off back to the kitchen. Leaving us all looking at each other quite amazed. So unnecessary and aggressive when there was no need. Some people are very strange. All the good work by the waitress was ruined by his intervention which achieved absolutely nothing other than to embarass the poor couple and ruin theirs and our experience of being there.

Good cafe great food friendly and helpful staff

Lovely spacious cafe tastefully decorated with a bit of a hippy vibe. Friendly helpful staff, very accommodating regarding diet whether u are vegan need gluten free exclusion eg dairy free or enjoy meat. Good menu. All day breakfasts wonderful variety of cakes and drinks

A welcome find.

Lovely pit stop for lunch. We visited en route to our holiday in Pembrokeshire. We were given a warm welcome and the sandwiches were fresh, plentiful and tasty. They were served with a side salad and crisps. We also had a pot of tea for two, which came accompanied with a pot of hot water, which was plenty to top up for a second cup. The tea room was clean and the only reason for four stars not five is that it would have been nice to have some music on for atmosphere.

GF breakfast

Popped in for a gluten free breakfast and it was amazing! Everything tasted spot on and we will defiantly come back. Whole menu had GF options and it’s great to see, usually a struggle to find somewhere with such a huge choice. Keep up the good work!

Delicious range of food

Stopped on our way through Wales for lunch and I'm so glad we did! Delicious, quick, varied menu that caters for all dietary requirements and made substitutions for children's preferences too. Really friendly. Highly recommended!
