We love this restaurant. The food is always of a high standard. The wine is refreshingly different and the staff are very helpful in choosing the appropriate wine to complement the food. It is a little out of Eastbourne so do need to consider a designated driver - tough on the driver as English wine, though expensive, is a delight... More

Beautiful restaurant, lovely food, the owner was very attentive, It was a shame that the waitress wasn't on the ball, she forgot the bread to go with the starter even though she said that she would go and fetch it, but this was a minor error, and we had to wait forever for coffee. But still a worth while visit.

What a delight this place is and the very warm welcome we got from the owner who is justifiably proud of this beautiful place. We have already booked to stay there when attending Glyndebourne later this year

We had been intending to visit this restaurant for a long while, but somehow didn't find the opportunity or the occasion to do so. That opportunity finally presented itself just before christmas, and the long wait proved to be very much worthwhile. As it happened, we were the only people in the Flint Barn the whole evening. Apparently this was... More

I have driven past here many times over many years, never quite knew what it was - suspected something Eco, possibly the Green Party. Never seen much advertising. But we booked in recently for a family occasion and what a pleasant eye-opener.Top class dining in rural Sussex, and ideal for a special occasion. The food - three choices each course- was... More

Went to the English Wine Centre for a tasting and lunch, gifted by our son and girlfriend. Thoroughly recommend both the event and the venue. Escorted to the barn where we were treated to a tasting of seven English wines, ranging from a delightful Sussex sparkling, two whites from Cornwall and Hampshire, a Rose from Yorkshire(!), two reds from Staffs... We were staying in nearby Alfriston and dropped in on the way to Newhaven. Despite being only mid-morning, the proprietor (Colin) kindly opened some examples for our tasting (he has a range of 140 to choose from) and led us through his stock of English sparkling and still wines. While this was going on my wife amused herself looking through... More

It's half way between Brighton and Eastbourne which was perfect because I was meeting my brother and his partner who live in Brighton but had a deadline to be in Eastbourne. I had looked it up in trip advisor I had rung ahead and booked. I explained we would be bringing the dog ( old English sheep dog - so... More

On the same site is a shop selling English wine, a restaurant and a B & B. The shop contains a very good selection of English wines from all over the country, most of which you won't find in ordinary wine merchants and supermarkets. It also sells chutneys and jams which are locally made. Can't comment on the restaurant.
