I can only say, please add vegetarian options to the menu, as we struggled and only ate wedges. But easily one of the most beautiful place to eat in Balikpapan, and staff were very friendly and attentive.

restaurant is really beautiful with phantastic view. negative is the quality of food. was really not good, and for indonesia expensiv. we eat mixed, meat, fish etc. but all the food was really poor quality. after we left we went to place we know to eat again. at the end.... .for a drink and nice view is worth at any time.....for dinner go somewhere else

Had a quick stop in the afternoon on my recent visit to Balikpapan. Balikpapan is a wonderful city bustling with Metro like atmosphere at the gate of East Kalimantan .. a unique destination with many challenging eco attractions ... I was lucky enough to sit down at Open House Balikpapan right on sunset when all the colours come alive .. was quite an experience .. food and bevs are quite good with friendly service .. Will certainly revisit on the next trip. And maybe great to stay at Hilltop House next door as well ..

Make sure to check the dates in previous reviews. Open house is a beautiful location, but none of the reviews were accurate. There is no international or Mediterranean cuisine, there is a medium sized selection of Indonesian food, mostly snacks. They advertise as vegetarian friendly, but the staff (who were very kind and helpful) struggled to identify vegetarian options. The food was not great. They don’t take credit card, so make sure you bring cash. No alcohol/beer. There are tables for literally hundreds of people and we were the only ones in the restaurant section. I’m sure this will pick up after COVID, but for now it is very sparse. Interesting place with lots of potential.

Nice place to hangout with friends, it is on top of a hill so we can see Balikpapan from top but food is overprice and taste so average.

The place was very interesting. They had more outdoor space than any other restaurants we had visited in Balikpapan. We had to walk through quite beautiful scenary to get to the restaurant from the parking lot. We sit outdoor (thank God it wasn't rainning) and it was chilly and windy but it was nice for a change. We ordered Lamb Souvlaki which was good and quite the right amount to fill our stomach. The prices were a bit expensive though.

I've been to Open House several times over the last couple of years and the view never fails to impress! I recommend visiting just before sunset so that you can see the view over the city and out to see, which is beautiful. There layout and decor of the restaurant are really interesting and it's well worth taking the time to explore during your visit - finding swimming pools, art work, some antiques, and all mixed with an exotic fusion of East meets West. The downside to Open House, in my opinion, is the unpredictable food. Sometimes it's really lovely (the vegetarian platter is fabulous!), but sometimes it's just OK, which is disappointing because it's all relatively expensive. Also, too often various menu items are not available. I definitely think Open House is worth a visit, but maybe it would be worth contacting the restaurant first to make sure they know you're going.

the rooms where not as I expected. It looked old and it wasn't the best quality at all for that price. I expected more. For food the restaurant area is great. But for a nights stay over it's just mediocre.

We have been here a few times, in recent month the prices are very high for Balikpapan or even in Asia. Chicken meat only Kebab with a few frozen chips and a greasy awful looking salad cost is RP160,000 plus 21% for taxes and service. Staff not helpful, they never asked if the food is okay, nor did they ask if we wanted anything else. We had to keep getting up to ask for assistance with ordering, asking for the bill etc. Views are good but can't see the Sunset. Wouldn't go back sorry.

We spent 3 nights in the eco room, the hotel itself is absolutely stunning with amazing views of Balikpapan. Only real issue was no hot water available in the shower and our room did smell a little moldy. The restaurant has quite good food but was often out of certain dishes and is quite expensive comparatively. Otherwise it was on of the most beautiful hotels I've ever been in, definitely recommended

The view is very nice, and its like secluded, it felt like i was somewhere else outside the city. But the food is expensive and i ordered the chef recommended food but sadly didn't get it because one of the materials was not available. Taste of the food was good.

Food is good but worth going just for the setting. Lovely gardens and great view of the city. Staff were friendly and efficient. Meals were tasty and good value for the price. Ask to sit up the top for the best views.
