A must try authentic restaurant! Fresh local Cretan products and a lot of vegetarian options. Very good prices and big parking.

We visited there with family and I will just let my son's opinion speak for me: "Bourakis is the BEST restaurant in Chania Crete. 10/10. Everything is SO GOOD. Even the sweet treat at the end is really delicious. Some of the best things are...zucchini flowers stuffed with rice and stuffed aubergine rolls with feta. Siglina are nice. BUT the BEST thing is salmon with mushy pees. I really recommend this restaurant. Will definitely visit again. Way better than expected! "More
What a terrific friendly restaurant to visit. A great welcome when we arrived and great service from all staff and in particular John. Recommend sea bass and lamb stew.
We wanted a nice lunch before catching our flight home. We saw good reviews and noted it was minutes away from the airport. The atmosphere was lovely, but the food was absolutely awesome, and very good value. Highly recommended if in the area. Would love...to try other dishes as we enjoyed the ones we ordered so muchMore
The restaurant accommodated 12 of us without blinking an eye. The food was excellent and they took very good care of us. The biggest bonus was their own parking lot across the street from the restaurant. I’d recommend this place.
Awesome service, great food. The meat platter for 4 was really tasty. Got a shot and some sweet dish for desert. Overall great experience!
Really liked the place. You can sit outside or inside. This is the first menu I have seen where it said this dish is for 2-4 persons (e.g. salad) so people know which size to expect. Very helpful for tourists that are not used to...the portions on crete. Every dish was delicious, the food came in 5 minutes after the order.More
Went last Christmas Day, it was fabulous- they accommodated us 3 into a fully booked and table reserved set up. We were grateful- food amazing. Visited today, 4 Dec 2022- ordered beef and lamb, the beef was inedible and the lamb dry in places but...ok next to the bone. Potatoes undercooked and unseasoned, I had to mash mine up and left half. It was cold in there too. No spaceheaters heaters in courtyard as we would've been happy to be outside in the air. Best part for me were the beautiful old stained glass windows. Pastries gifted after meal were hard and dry. What happened? New Chef?More
We were taken to this restaurant by our Cretan friends, which is clearly highly regarded by the locals because it was packed with Cretans enjoying a nice evening out. Not a tourist to be seen. The service is efficient and the waiters know their food....The menu was amazing and had things that I had never tried before or seen on menus in Crete. The food was tasty, plentiful and above all, enjoyable to look at and eat. I would recommend this restaurant if you want to eat where the locals eat and experience true Cretan cuisine.More
We ate lunch and returned a couple of days later for dinner eating the daily specials on both occasions. Really nice setting and staff. Food tasty and well cooked. Only complaint would be main meal sizes which were huge ( a recurring theme of our...trip)..hate food waste. Best to stick to two/combination of starters as we did for lunchMore
I finally tried this taverna after 3 years! every time we drove past I liked the look of it and in the evenings it was packed - this year we decided to go and eat there and it was probably the best meal of our...stay. The Greek salad was a meal on its own! The evening we went there were a lot of fo Greeks eating there, which is always a good sign. I tried the stuffed courgette flowers and the grilled oyster mushrooms (which were amazing), the boureki plus lots of other dishes - the children loved their food (8 & 14) and the oldest said he liked the 'vibe' in the taverna. It kind of reminded me of Greece years ago - when there weren't any of the modern, shiny restaurants - just good, homecooked, generous food. There was no dish that wasn't good and the bill was very reasonable - basically at least 10 euros less than in Chania Town. Would really recommend this restaurant - the staff were busy but friendly and the atmosphere was great -will be heading back there on our next trip!More
Fabulous ‘traditional’ restaurant with a large menu featuring mainly local dishes. Good meat and seafood options with smaller dishes for kids. We visited twice in August 2022 and it was very busy - seemed popular with locals and tourists, which is usually a good sign....It has a large car park across the road which is a plus if you’ve got to drive. Recommend booking unless you plan to eat early (before 8pm), but definitely worth a visit.More
On our family holiday to Crete, we stayed in Tersanas near Chania. Bourakis was one of the local restaurants we decided to take a chance on. We couldn't have been happier with it - so much so, we returned twice, including for our last night...before coming home. It is a brilliant example of straightforward food, cooked to perfection. Everything is seasoned and flavoured brilliantly. The value for money is outstanding - in contrast to flashier hotel restaurants in the vicinity, which suggest they are great but then deliver sub-standard food. The atmosphere is lovely, with a real neighbourhood feel and a very welcoming staff. Great local wines too. Go along, you won't be disappointed!More
Delicious food and very good service. Traditional tavern and a place to try tasty of greek food. I recommend. The best steak.
We came for dinner last Sunday, our last day in Crete. At first we thought this was a fancy restaurant and not the traditional tavern we hoped for. Well, we were wrong. We had the chance to taste lovely Cretan dishes in fancy plates but...in large portions. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked at very reasonable prices. The wine selection was excellent and the service was the best. When in Crete we will definitely visit again.More
