Very disappointed with the quality of the food. When you are charging the prices you do. You have to be able to deliver on quality and presentation. Opening a bag of frozen chips and chucking them in a deep fat fryer just doesn’t cut it...I’m afraid. £13.95 for an a homemade burger( highly compressed and red in colour) so have my doubts. And deep fried chicken which was over cooked. You need to at the very least make it palatable. Staff where lovely yet no one was seemed to manage them. Lots of confusion. Never asked if everything was ok in fact never approached our table at all. On the plus side the beer was great. But you don’t make that. Wish we’d stopped at the chippy next door instead.More

We were in the function room for a baby shower. The buffet food was hot and very tasty. Amy, the function manager went up and above in helping with the arrangements with everything, and also with ensuring our hotel rooms were perfect for our needs....The rooms were very stylish and comfy. We also had a great time on the night with the weekly quiz, bingo game. Great atmosphere with lovely people.More

We returned today for a meal with family as back up here on holiday. It seems that there is a lot of bad feeling within the staff here. We were served by a lady who turns out to be called Amy (FINALLY) who was constantly...singing and humming behind the bar which was very annoying. We have been here on many occasion before staff have always been happy and welcoming but it appears after talking to the other staff that this particular member of staff is the problem and bothered us during our meal explaining she was the new bar, catering and function manager. May I please add we had a meal on our last visit to the copper horse next door and was worse than poor. We have been told by the locals and staff that the londesborough is opening soon and will give that a try due to huge price increases in the Mayfield and general bad feeling among staff. It appears there are too many Chiefs and not enough happy Indians. May we also add that the children room smelt of sick and dirty nappies, toilets are not as clean as they used to be (out of toilet roll etc) after speaking to customers in the pub seems like have the same view.More

Booked a last minute weekend away at the Mayfield, having previously stayed at similar establishment’s i was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was. The room quality was by far the best we had stayed at, and at £60 a night was well worth it!...We hadn’t planned to eat at the Mayfield as not usually a fan of pub grub, but the husband wanted to give it a try, again pleasantly surprised, the food was outstanding! We absolutely will be returning later in the year!!More

We were lucky enough to have won four tickets priced at £35 each for a musical tribute evening with a seasonal 3 course meal included. The starter was prawns and salmon. When this arrived we were embarrassed as our guests couldn't believe the diminutive portion...which looked like it had been scaled to suit a Barbie Doll, 3 tiny prawns and a piece of smoked salmon the size of half a post-it note. A tiny lettuce leaf and Marie rose sauce hiding the prawns. The main course arrived and further disappointed our group with 'plastic' turkey, one roast potato, two miniature parsnips, 3 miniature chantonnay Carrots and two sprouts. Like a supermarket meal but worse. The third course was the only redeeming feature, sticky toffee pudding. One out of three...33%. Not a passmark! We had twice contacted the Mayfield management to determine the expected arrival time as no tickets had been sent to us. The Manager said he'd make a note and made it clear no tickets were required. When we arrived we were made to feel awkward and certainly not like prize winners being squeezed onto a table at the very back of the room. We were told we had best arrive between 5 and 6pm we were not able to sit down until 7pm. I guess this was a ploy to sell drinks. A long wait. Not once did any member of staff ask if the meal was OK. The Lionel Richie tribute was performed well fortunately. To the Mayfield management, if this evening's meal and style of management was an ambassador to tempting us to return with our business you have failed miserably. Come on guys, you must be able to do better than this. It's a good concept but tragic execution. 😔More

I have just spent 5 nights at the Mqyfield in Seamer and I have to say i cannot fault anything. My room was the easy access room with wetroom. The bedding was pristeen white and the bed was so comfy. In the room was a...fridge, microwave, dyson fan and plenty of tea and coffee. The shower is a tropical waterfall shower it also has a smaller shower head if you need to shower seated. The housekeeping staff headed by Nikki are all brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast was delicious i had the porridge with honey but full English, toast, fresh juice and cereal is available. Every member of staff treated me very well. The main meals were cooked fresh and they were hot and delicious. I had the turkey wrapped in yorkshire pudding with gravy on my first night and it was delicious and it was huge. Great value for money, the fish and chips were also amazing, the fish fell apart and was so tasty. The chips are fresh and homecooked too. My final night there was a live band on called Juniper Junction who were outstanding, the bar was jumping and everyone was enjoying themselves. I highly recommend the Mayfield hotel for everything they do.More

The food and service is always great. However the hand sanitisers are always empty and the 4 tables near the bar too close together. There were lots of kids running around blowing up balloons and letting them deflate. Getting covered in spit is not good...in these times. Not the kids fault but not a good idea at moment.More

Really great food with friendly, helpful staff. We had the Carvery and a pie and both were really wonderful. The Carvery had three choices of meat and a great choice of veggies and sides - new potatoes, roasties, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, broccoli, carrot and...swede mash, sausage meat stuffing, yorkshires, amazing! Pie was homemade as were the chips - good sized portion and great value at £20 for the two meals. Staff really helpful - came and told us when the pie was being plated up so I could get my Carvery, that’s great service.More

As a family of 8 we came here for our Christmas Dinner. We could not have been happy. All the staff were very busy but still had time for you, the food was amazing and more then enough. We wasn't rushed at all and stayed...for a leisurely coffee. We would just like to say Well done to all the staff we will definitely be back ☆☆☆☆☆More
