Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I having been coming here on and off over the last few years and sadly I think things have changed.
Cup, saucer and teapot full of tea stains. Prawn sandwich made fresh to order and though the bread was lovely and fresh the filling was very bland. We were made to feel welcome but the staff looked a little fed up.Hopefully just having a bad day!
Today there was a sign saying cash only, unsure if this is a one off.
Parking still available behind village hall.

We had driven past this place many times before and only realised it was also a tea room the last time. This time we stopped by for a cream tea and we were not disappointed.
The scones were particularly good which are made by the owner and the tea was plentiful using real tea in a large pot which the lady offered to top up.
We will definitely be back and can highly recommend.

Trimmed sanis, great scones and two types of cake with lashings of tea. What more could you want. Small cafe so booking advised and owner needs time to prepare the teas in advance. But everything perfect. Will be back with more visitors

I have been to Where Memories Meet on several occasions but not for a while. Being in Wateringbury around 10.45am on Friday I decided to pop in for some breakfast. Unfortunately although advertised as all day they could not offer me a breakfast (not sure if this was just Friday or in general) but could do scrambled egg on toast. The eggs arrived looking very anemic and sloppy and with no taste whatsoever. Despite copious amounts of salt and pepper they remained inedible and I left most of them just eating the toast. On reflection I do wonder if perhaps they were made with powdered eggs and/or water. For some strange reason scrambled eggs on toast also comes with lettuce and what looked like a balsamic dressing which seems a strange combination!
If any of the staff had bothered to ask I would have informed them that the eggs were inedible but unfortunately, despite clearing a plate with very little of the egg eaten, nobody did.
I also had a pot of tea. The tea itself was very nice but the pot, cup and tea strainer were heavily stained and looked like they could do with a good wash.
Such a shame that things appear to be slipping as in the past it was a nice place for a sandwich.

Useless, terrible food and rude staff. The food we ordered took a ridiculously long time to be bought out, even after asking the staff multiple times where our food was and if there was a problem, this did not seem to do anything. We found the staff very rude and the manger quit disrespectful. Shocked at how a small business like this can operate. Will be making sure I let as many people that I can in the local area, to never enter this place
Words cannot describe how upset I was after my visit.
0/10 from me and my family

I was in the area with my mum and goggled tea rooms. This came up, so we headed there. When we walked in, there were 3 vacant tables, with a fourth table being occupied. The owner was sitting at a fifth table, doing paperwork. She looked up and I asked if we could have a table for two. She asked if I'd booked and I said no. She then looked around the room at the three vacant tables and pondered on her answer for some time. I was standing there with my 87 year old mum and felt unwelcome, so I said it's ok, it doesn't matter. She then stood up and said you can sit there, pointing to a table. The menu was on boards above the counter and we wanted some kind of breakfast. Most of the breakfasts came with a huffkin and I didn't know what that was. She finally came to the table and I ordered our drinks. I asked what a huffkin was and she impatiently said that she didn't have any. I looked up at the boards again and she said did we want breakfast. I said well, we did really. She then put a piece of paper on the table and said let me make it simple for you. She obviously had a reduced menu, which is totally understandable at the moment, but why not tell us when we sat down. Her whole manner was very off putting, she clearly didn't want us there. I felt very uncomfortable and said that we would leave it and we left. Having now read the reviews, I'm glad that we did because her breakfast has appalling reviews

Fantastic afternoon tea! The tiered trays were filled with homemade sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones cream and jam and cakes. We all had a teapot each which was refilled as many times as you want. We were comfortable and service was great and friendly. Highly recommend

Rang to book an afternoon tea for my daughter’s 30 th birthday.
The woman who answered was downright rude when I asked if they provided vegan food.
Been before but won’t ever be going back!
Need to retrain staff A.S.A.P. as customer service is non existent!

We walked some distance to have lunch. We checked the web site to make sure it was open and available.
We were met with the most rudest and miserable woman who I presume was the owner only to be told every table was reserved and nothing available. Fair enough, but the way see said it to us was not how you deal with people.
The young lady who was an assistant apologised to us for not having anything available and looked clearly embarrassed how we were talked to.
Avoid at all cost
As an add on we were on holiday and did talk to a couple of locals who never use it as they agreed what a misery that woman is.
We walked back towards a place called the horse box by the river, what a difference. Highly recommended

We ordered afternoon tea for 3 people. Lucy and Carol were very helpful and couldn’t help us enough. Sandwiches were delicious. Smoked salmon, cheese with chilli jam and cream cheese and slices of cucumber. Scones were light and fluffy with jam and best cream! When we got to cake it was Victoria sponge and was just a perfect ending as we were getting full! We were served any amount of tea. All at a reasonable price.
Certainly recommend. We have been before but never had a cream tea.

My daughter arranged for my mum and myself to have an afternoon tea at this lovely little cafe. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious. The staff were friendly and very accommodating and kindly provided for my daughter being vegetarian and me being ‘dairy free’.

Last minute booking but we secured a table. The staff are very polite but not intrusive. The drinks were all excellent. The bakewell, lemon & ginger & choc orange cakes were excellent, the fruitcake & Millionaire’s shortbread less so. There is so much to choose from when it comes to trinkets & antiques, you’ll find something for sure. The function room is lovely.

First time visiting and I go past it every day, it looks great from the outside and I am always keen to support local businesses. I was finally able to pop in today hoping to get a couple of bacon sandwiches and a couple of slices of cake to takeaway... The lady asked what I wanted, I asked if they did take out and I was told “Not today as I am on my own and I have two tables, unless you come back later”. Not what I expected and such a shame. I won’t be trying again and I’m now off to the local burger van!

1st time visiting. Went for an afternoon tea for a baby shower.
The afternoon tea was lovely, the staff couldn't do enough for us and were really nice. Nothing was rushed and nothing was too much trouble.
Will definitely be returning!

Had a terrible experience.
Incredibly rude staff and unbelievably overpriced food.
I will be going out of my way to tell as many people as I can, never to step foot into this place.
Completely ruined our afternoon meet up with friends.
