We went before the busy dinner hour. We opted to do the split plate with each of us getting our own salad/soup. Plenty of food for two, and the food was tasty! Can see why the locals love it. It's a bit loud but we expected this as it's in a bowling alley. We'll be back!

RESTAURANT'S FAVOURITE REVIEW
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2016

Even after reading the rave reviews and being told by the desk staff at our hotel next door that this was the best food in town we were still a bit apprehensive. But the food, service, and fun factor were as good as described. You wouldn't expect that swordfish would be something you'd order in the Eastern Sierra, but it... More

I know what you are saying, good food at a bowling alley, are you kidding me? But it is true, this place has really great food. I have eaten here several time and was never disapointed. The steak I had one evening ranked up there with some high end steak houses in Southern California! Staff is very friendly and there... More

Average food and average service, I didn't get to finish my entree before my main was shoved under my nose. The bowling alley itself was really popular, we didn't get to have a game which was a pity. We could see it was very popular with locals and had been recommended to us by a local and it was a... More

Ordered the prime rib and would give it a 9 out of 10. Service was moderate and the bowling alley atmosphere was poor.

Heard about this place for a while now but we finally tried this place for the first time. I wanted a ribeye steak while my wife wasn't that hungry so she wanted a side salad and baked potato. The waiter suggested we do the split plate for $3.50 that way she gets both. I ordered my steak medium which came... More

We were looking forward to a great swordfish dinner but swordfish wasn't in season so red snapper was our second choice. We split the dinner. The portions were large and we ordered an extra wedge salad. Baked potato and asparagus and a bottle of wine and we were good. All this for $47! We'll be back.

Situated right behind the La Quinta Inn hotel, the front desk recommended we eat there. A family diner, but a little noisy from adjacent bowling alley. Nevertheless we had a superbly cooked juicy steak dinner. Staff friendly, we met the owner and his wife who were very helpful with local knowledge and advice on nearby Yosemite National Park.

I went there all the time while I lived in Bishop. It was one of the places the locals cherished for its atmosphere and good food.

We drive through Bishop often and Schat's is normally where we dine but decided to try the Back Alley due to other Trip Advisor reviews. This seems to be popular with locals and we had a 10 minute wait for a table. Service was great and accurate. We are not food connoisseurs so their simple down home menu fit the... More
