I have been coming to this bakery since I was a child and it still serves up quality breads and foods that I remember from years past. I love their sandwich shop in the back and the pastries from the other side as well. Its a must stop if you are ever in Bishop.

As a local....I never go here. I've lived here my whole life and I think I have been here maybe six times...in 35 years. Overpriced, tourist trap. Better taste at Great Basin.

Schat's is the best bakery with wonderful goodies, they are not inexpensive but delish!! I love all the breads, just look around and yummm, the sweet ones with gooey frostings are wonderful as the spicy and cheesy ones. the cookies and candies are tasty as well. go in the back and have them make a fresh bread and fresh cooked... This place is huge and seems intent on attracting the tourists, but still, I really liked it. All kinds of bread and pastries, plus of course souvenirs for sale. I bought some old-fashioned sourdough bread which was quite good. The pastries looked very good as well. Service, if just a tad harried, was efficient. It's a fun place and worth... More

We love the breads from this bakery. They have a variety - olive, honi-sqaw and shepherds are our favorite! We have also tried their raisin and walnut bread - delicious!

Obvious choice for fresh baked goods. They need to offer gluten free products for those that can't enjoy this obligatory stop on highway 395!

It is like stepping back in time or walking into a German Bakery enjoying all the smells that when your Grandmother would cook. What a great place for lunch, snacks, and to see what everyone is talking about. A great place with lot's of history which makes the visit fun, and the food is delicious. From the baked goods to... Schat’s is a classic pit stop for travelers on the 395 between Southern California and Mammoth or Tahoe. This European-themed bakery has every type of sweet and savory baked good imaginable. They are famous for their sheepherder bread. The shop has narrow walkways that make it hard to navigate; it is also usually very crowded. In fact, the sandwich line... More

Best bakery ever. Mouthwatering. I didn't like the ice cream so much, but I bought the best beef jerky I have ever tasted. I should have bought more. Tons more.

Bestist ever sandwich and soup!! Easy to see why this place has full car park and 15 minute queue to get sandwich!! Located in Bishop (population 3,567) there appears to be a loaf of bread for sale for every resident in town. This institution must be feeding every sane person driving US395. Make sure to stop.

Thank Simon M
