Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a find. We loved this pub; a warm welcome and quickly wiped and relaid table had us looking at a menu that had a wide range of dishes to suit all tastes, and an actual specials menu included, not on a blackboard over the...bar! Good beers, friendly efficient service, lovely food and a great atmosphere made this a new favourite.More

When in the area this pub is our go to for great food, we have never been disappointed. Visited again at the weekend and had some brilliant food and wine. A lovely homely pub which is dog friendly with a great garden. It’s always vibrant...and has a very family feel. Lovely menu which is very reasonable with gluten free options, so much to choose from you won’t be disappointed. Staff are lovely, so helpful and friendly it’s just an all round great experience.More

Arrived on spec with my mobility impaired elderly mother- advise wheelchair users to phone to arrange entrance to dining room or for table in the bar area which has the disabled toilet. The staff were great with my (stick wielding) mother and attentive throughought our...visit. Seated efficiently while service was well underway. Food choice from the table menu was solid and included the daily specials, which was a helpful idea- no up and down to read a blackboard. Mum ordered 2 starters under the impression they would be suitable for a reduced appetite, however found the portions good but too large and they spontaneously offered to box them for us. The food, was really good, tasty well presented and interesting. The wine was good too! On leaving from the dining room, a staff member opened a locked door for mum so that she didn't need to negotiate steps and a longer walk to the car park. There is outdoor seating, but I'm not sure how this is accessed for those with mobility needs, so a phone call to the helpful staff would sort that out I'm sure.More

Ended up going 2 nights running for our dinner, food, venue and service is second to none. Great menu, highlight for us was the lamb pudding, chicken Kiev, cheese and onion pie and meat and potato pie. Staff very helpful, and professional. Food was freshly...cooked, nice and hot, and great portions. Very reasonably priced venue.More

Visiting relatives in Lancashire, we went for lunch & had a few small plates to share between the three of us. Sticky sausages, chicken goujons, tempura prawns, duck pancakes & a portion of chips. Didn’t realise how big the portions would be but saying that,...we ate every bit! All were delicious. Staff friendly & helpful. Wished we lived nearer, we would be there all the time!More

What an excellent old style tavern/pub restaurant, The staff are managed well and the service is what you would expect with the owner on site ensuring you have an excellent all round dining experience. The menu will suite all tastes and the food coming from...the kitchen is of the highest consitant quality. High quality local ingreadients cooked to perfection. Their beer garden is one of the best in Lancashire and complimented with great spring and summertime foods. Our little dog loves visiting there too when the staff make such a fuss of her.More

Visited upon recommendation from a work colleague. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The place was heaving, but we were lucky enough to get a reservation on a Saturday night at 6pm when ringing to book the same day. Starters: Prawn cocktail - plenty of...prawns, slice of bread and butter, salad a little poor as some lettuce was brown. Sticky sausages - brilliant with lots of sausages. Italian mushrooms - beautiful Squid - well presented and tasty. Mains: Steak pudding - just amazing. Great size and very tasty with plenty of meat. The chips were stunning. Cheese & onion pie - beautiful strong cheese, tasty and a great size piece of pie. Chicken kiev - this was well cooked and a lovely meal. No room for dessert. Will definitely be back.More

What a wonderful meal, it is so nice to have a different meal as I am a vegetarian. Plus they brought sausages for the dog. Wholly recommended.

Always made welcome, with great real ale choice and excellent food. A proper Lancashire pub in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

Excellent place to visit. Always a warm and friendly welcome when you enter. Fires were roaring and really helped as it was freezing outside. Was extremely busy but the 2 bar staff, a young man and young woman, promptly provided our drinks. Food is second...to none, was the best steak that I've ever had! Recently read the comment about the dogs ... its a family friendly pub who clearly have walkers 'with Dogs'. There were NONE in the dining room area were we sat.More
