We had an excellent meal at Madelines. We really struggled to decide what to order as we really wanted everything on the menu! The duck confit flatbread and the elk chops main were excellent. Paired with a great, reasonably priced local wine, the meal was...highly enjoyable. Great staff too!More

I arrived here in time for my reservation and I was told I needed to wait 10 or 15 minutes. They strongly encouraged me to take a seat at the bar since I was a solo traveler while they seated another group . That was...perfectly fine as long as I got service. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes before someone acknowledged me. I flagged down a waiter to get served a drink. She acted as if I disturbed her. It took another hour for my meal to arrive and the steak was overcooked. I will say I thought the butter lettuce salad was good on a positive note. I definitely will not be back . When you go to a place and they act like they don’t want your business that sort of clinches the deal.More

Madeline's is our new favorite restaurant on the Central Coast or if escaping from Paso Robles. Downtown Cambria is a great place to walk around, and Madeline's is right in the middle of town. The corkage fee was very fair at $20. We shared a...couple of starters, had our entries, and shared a dessert. Food was wonderful, and the pricing is about the same as the other dinner restaurants on the Central Coast. All the sauces were wonderful. Make sure you make reservations, as they had to turn away multiple people on a Saturday evening.More

We have been visiting Cambria for 25 years, and married here in 2001. Somehow, Madeleine’s escaped our radar, even though it has been here for 20 years. This trip we were determined to try a new (to us) place. Wow! What a great choice! We...were lucky to be seated at a lovely table by the window. We shared the duck terrine and scallop appetizer (we were tempted to soak up the delicious sauce from the scallops but restrained ourselves). The pate was served warm with some duck sausage. So yummy. For our mains. I had the duck breast and my hubby had the veal special with local mushrooms. Again absolutely delicious. We shared the lime/raspberry pie which was spot on, but will definitely try the chocolate truffle mousse cake next time. We also enjoyed a very well priced bottle of French sparkling. This is our new favorite Cambria restaurant.More

My husband and I had dinner at this little gem on Christmas night. They were packed, so service was naturally a bit slow, but the wait staff was friendly, genuine and clearly hustling as fast as they could. This restaurant is just what a local...fine dining establishment should be, with a cozy atmosphere and utterly delicious food. My husband had the baked Brie and I had the house salad to start. The greens tasted as if they were freshly picked and the dressing was as perfectly balanced as you’d expect from a French bistro. I had the stuffed chicken breast — it was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had at a restaurant.More

Madeline’s is the best restaurant we went to in Cambria. The scallops appetizer was perfectly cooked. The roasted vegetables on polenta and King salmon was amazing. Wine selection is vast and service was attentive but not overbearing. Save room for the key lime pie!

Fortunately we had a reservation--this place books up quickly! The service was excellent and the food was good. We ordered the special: halibut, with scallops for an appetizer and a caesar salad. The salad was excellent; the scallops were not large but nicely cooked with...a delicious sauce; the halibut was overcooked to where it was dry with a nice sauce which almost saved the dish. It was served on rice which was (ironically) under-cooked and inedible. We ordered the apple-cinnamon crumble for desert which would have been good if it had more apple but there was almost none--It was all crumble and crust. Perhaps we caught them on a night in which they were short-staffed in the kitchen.More

My husband and I discovered Madeline’s several years ago on our annual vacation and now return each time we are in the area. Madeline’s is the perfect combination of delicious, upscale food and sophisticated yet cozy ambience. Their food and wine pairings are fantastic and...we were please to recently join their wine club. We find their selection of wines to be varied and delicious. We especially love two bottles of each choice for a total of six each quarter. I would be remiss not to mention the top notch service and friendliness of the staff and especially David, the owner who never fails to greet you warmly and make you feel right at home. Thank you, Madeline’s, for being a very special, rare spot.More

The best of Cambria for dinner. We started with a cocktail at the cozy bar then off to the classy table at the window overlooking the beachy town. Madeline greeted and served us. What a treat. I had the duck which was done to perfection,...juicy and so much great flavor, my wife had the Polenta Madeline, again perfect for a veggie dish. Always an excellent place to celebrate or just have a great evening. EnjoyMore

Truly I can’t say enough good things about Madeline’s!! Both my husband & I travel a lot always looking for good dining. By far, Madeline’s has ALWAYS been exceptionally delicious. We didn’t have a plan for dinner but was thrilled when Cody the GM, accepted...us for dinner. Omar, our server was friendly and attentive! My husband had the seafood gumbo. The flavors were outstanding. I had the wild mushroom polenta. Both dishes were mouthwatering delicious!! And oh my goodness, we had their delicious flourless cake for dessert. Being a chocoholic, I was in heaven ! I MUST compliment David , the owner, Cody and Omar and everyone there that helped make us want to come back to Cambria sooner rather than later!! I must tell you to not walk but run to this amazing establishment. Try to make a reservation to assure you can get a table! Bon Appetit!!More

We were celebrating my husbands birthday and I booked a table at Madeline's. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND making reservations. There were several people who did not have reservations who were turned away at the door because of the wait time. We started the meal with...wine and appetizers. We ordered the Green Lipped Muscles and the Duck Terrine. The muscles were perfection, lying in a savory broth of butter and garlic. These muscles are addictive. I only wish we had placed two orders of the them as they were that good. The duck terrine was always delicious. The terrine is wrapped in bacon. The dish was savory, with notes of sweetness. Absolutely delicious and the perfect accompaniment against the brightness and acidity of the muscles. I ordered the Louisiana Seafood Gumbo. The seafood was perfectly cooked and the seasoning is on the spicy side. I've had better in New Orleans, but this was very, very good. I would have preferred more rice in the dish. Other than the water and wine on the table, there was really nothing to neutralize my palate during this meal. It wasn't slap your mama spicy, but it was spicy. My husband ordered the lamb sirloin which was perfectly cooked at medium well. Many restaurants in America don't know how to cook lamb and it's always overcooked and to tough. The chef at Madeline's knows how to cook lamb. Perfectly seasoned, PERFECTLY cooked on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with a side of carrots and squash. My husband loved everything and there was nothing left on the plate at the end of the meal, which is rare for him. They have a very large wine list and the ambiance is wonderful for a romantic dinner, or just a relaxing dinner with friends or family. We loved it here and will definitely be back.More
