Once again we had dinner at the Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe in Carlsbad. Once again we were not disappointed. We had the Senior Meal. Ground Round Steak with grilled onions and mushrooms; the entree included soup or salad and dessert. The soups of the day were chicken tortilla and beef barley, both of them delicious. The ground round steak... More

Village Kitchen has been around forever. Food is consistently good and very reasonably priced. Well worth stopping in for breakfast!

This is always my family's go to place to eat. They have a wide variety of items on their menu for every one. From hamburgers to prime rib. They even have beer and wine.

I go once a week for breakfast and occasionally for dinner. No atmosphere but good food and very good pie, especially the lemon merangue. I like an oatmeal breakfast with blueberries. One of few place one can find liver and onions, a personal favorite.

We went for a late breakfast, late lunch. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich, salad and Pie. It was amazing. You have to try the pecan pull-aparts. This is one of our favorite coffee shops when we are on vacation in Carlsbad. The breakfast specials during the week before 11 are outstanding. We love the old-time coffee shop atmosphere, booths, malts,... More

A friend told us about this place. Their pies are baked fresh daily. This time we tried their fresh peach pie since it is in season. It was so delicious. Call in advance to make sure they have one available.

Our son introduced us to this place when we came to a nephew's wedding several years ago. We always stop in when we are in the area. There is a wide selection of pies and we have tried several and they are always great. We have had breakfast and lunch here too. The portions are generous. The breakfast was good,... More

We ate here on a Monday evening. Fast service, very friendly wait staff, way too much food for a "senior plate," in my opinion. I could not eat half of mine, and my husband couldn't quite finish his! The senior plate includes freshly made sourdough bread with your appetizer (soup or salad), a healthy sized serving of food, and a... More

We had dinner, and the spinach salad was very good. There are a lot of specials and choices, including 1/2 sandwich, soup and slice of pie for $11. The pie is to die for. Fresh peach pie and coconut cream were really good.

So many people liked this place, so we (2 couples) decided to revisit after many years. Waitress seemed overbooked and a little dittsy but also nice. She did take almost 8 minutes to ask if I could get all white meat if I ordered the fried chicken. Answer was no. My dh ordered the chicken fried steak and it was... More
