nice location but the food is at most average. By the way, the menu they posted is like 10 years old...for example, the salmon bennny says $8.95 but it's actually $12.95.

Thank you for writing. The menu you saw is not our current menu. We have no control over that posting. We have tried for years to have it deleted. However, if you will note, at the bottom of that menu it states..."please check with restaurant for current prices". And our current menu is posted on a 3'x5' menu board on... More

Seems like everytime I go to Al's I have to have their breakfast fried rice. The helping is very generous & ohhh so delicious. They load it up with bacon & egg and other flavorful goodies. I have eaten the fried eggs, hash browns & rye toast and it is also very, very good. Al's is a great choice for... More

We stopped our geocaching adventures in Carlsbad, CA for a little sustenance. I tried their Rueben sandwich that was okay. Their California version featured coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. The corned beef was sliced like bologna but was okay. I had a corona in a bottle and Renee had a root beer float with her chicken salad sandwich which she enjoyed.

Thanks for your comments. We should have shaved the corned beef and will make that correction in the future. Please visit us again. More

Visiting the area from Colorado. Exploring the area and looking for a good home cooked meal. Found it at Al's. Good Reuben sandwich and chicken salad sandwich along with a beer and a root beer float. Hit the spot on a warm day. Friendly and clean.

My family and I stumbled on the place a few years ago and still go at least twice to three times a month. All of the food is good! I have literally tried every single dish and cannot complain. Home cooked food is rare in restaurants these days. My kids love it since they make Pancakes that look like Mickey... More

The food was OK. Luke warm is not good. Waitress was overwhelmed, but didn't seem to have her priorities in order. She was more concerned about selling "fudge" from the front window case, than taking care of already established customers. It seemed as though we all had one problem after another. ( needed a check, more coffee please, waiting to... More

My dad recommended Al's as a good place to grab breakfast. We had a lovely and hearty breakfast here with the family. Good omelets, eggs, waffles and French toast. Friendly service too.

This is a nice place to have a diner breakfast. There is an interesting intersect between locals and tourists. Service is good, food is good, menu has some good variety. It could be good for families unless it is super crowded because there are not a lot of bigger tables. Outdoor seating is nice as well. I've been twice and... More
