Spot on middle-eastern food, everything was perfect. The soup, hummus, artichoke and sole were all delicious. I’d recommend a reservation but no one was turned away while were were there.

The atmosphere is just average and a bit crowded, the menu was expensive for the quality of food we received, so I can not even say this was average. The other members of our group felt the same way.

Atmosphere : very small, but cozy place. Very dark - most guests were using their phones' flashlights to read the menu Food: Our appetizers (grilled octopus, whole artichoke) were tasty. Extremely small portions For man course we ordered lamb ravioli (very good) and eggplant dish...(no taste at all). wine was totally overpriced - $17 for a glass of house pinot noir (!?) Service : very fast and attentive Overall, nothing special, but apparently Michelin thought differently...More

100% make Yafa a part of your experience in Carmel. Excellent service, great food/desserts, The ambience is fantastic. Small and intimate and a great restaurant for a date, friends or out of town guests. Dia (owner) and his staff are amazing! I will return.

Early dinner here before heading out for sunset photography. Had the mishmish chicken on the recommendation of the manager, which was simple but perfectly cooked and very tasty. Followed with the (also very good) baklava which was a very generous portion. For the money this...has got to be one of the better-value restaurants in Carmel.More

What a delightful find!! Delicious options and attentive staff. Very friendly and accommodating. Wish the portions were a little larger for the main dishes. If you are in Carmel give this little Mediterranean restaurant a try!!!

Divine! The food was so fresh and the quality and flavors were outstanding. We ordered the grilled octopus, hummus, ground beef kafta and the meatballs, then finished the meal with baklava and warm dates. Every bite was perfection. They had Greek beer and wine which...paired incredibly well with the meal. The service was a little slow at first and it was a bit hot inside, but everyone was nice and it was a very enjoyable experience.More

We waited over 45 minutes for the food which came out cold - chicken kebab. The meatballs - nothing special - I make them better. The service…well, it is Carmel and conservative-maybe they feel uncomfortable with a same sex couple? We were not served a...complimentary glass of bubbly which is found in some of the reviews. (They were made aware that we were celebrating a birthday). How disheartening to see another table served bubbly and congratulated for a birthday. But let’s stick to the food - mediocre. We sent the chicken back…it came back hot but presented like crap. We sent it back and everything was whisked away quite rudely by the busboy. At no time did the waiter or manager come to apologize. We left, good riddance. Don’t bother unless you want to just drink and talk with friends - you’ll be doing that a lot while wondering if your food will ever come.More

The food is great but the service is not as good as the dishes. The place lacks air conditioning so it was very hot. Everything else was great

The occasion was our 49th Wedding Anniversary. We were met at the door by Alex who escorted us to our table and served the meal. As a toast to our anniversary, he served complimentary champagne and desert. His service was excellent and he remained attentive...to our needs throughout the meal. My wife had the Chicken which she reported to be one of the best meals she's ever had. I had the seafood pasta which had an abundance of wonderful fish. The pasta was a little heavy, but very good, nonetheless. All and all, a memorable evening and we will plan to return there next time we are in town.More

Never again. The food was just absolutely the worst I have had. We ordered chicken Kababs, eggplant dish, cauliflower and shrimp kababs. The only edible dish was the eggplant dish. The meats were cold and flavorless. The cauliflower was not cooked through , cold and...fLavorless. I am not sure why the restaurant has almost 5 star rating and even a Michelin recommendation. The restaurant must not be allowed to exist . The owner agreed to not charge for the entire meal.More

Cozy and cute. Off the beaten path a bit in the village. And very busy. Walking through the front door is transporting. Soft dark Mediterranean tones and Greek music immediately set you at ease. The service is Mediterranean but in a good way. Relaxed but...generally on top of things. We liked almost everything we ordered. The eggplant delight was wonderful. So was the salmon and the “Cauliflower steak.” Wines were reasonable and nice. Some misses at the desert and app courses. The octopus was perfectly seasoned, but a bit tough and chewy which kind of ruined that dish. The ciabatta with sun dried tomato is not what you think - it’s bred with a dip. And the Beirut pistachio pudding was a bit bland. The baklava was amazing. As was the Turkish coffee. All in all a thoroughly pleasant evening. I’d be willing to go back.More

Very disappointing. Food is sub par. Pita bread a disaster. Pita is supposed to be a pocket bread. This pita was not a pocket bread and was a sticky something but not pita . Lentil soup very average at best. Mishmish chicken was a baked...breast of chicken with some apricot jam and a serving of bland rice. The cauliflower dish at $30 was half a baked cauliflower with some bland rice. I will never go back. What a disappointment! Waste of my evening and a rip off for what you get. Some people should not be in the food hospitality business. The baba ghannouj was decent. Shame on Michelin.More

Too much later to be helpful. A reservation is necessary-it is a small place. Well worth it. Excellent if you like authentic middle east-Arabic food. Everything we ordered was great.

I think it was one of the owners who played a song on a Middle Eastern drum. Quite lively and to my ear he was very good.
