Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A well known restaurant with the locals that aims to please. We assigned the menu selection to my son who enjoys such tasks at dim sum dining places. I’ll put a bit of pressure on him for our experience but I also think the restaurant...must take done responsibility coverall we found the food to be very average. The best of many dishes ordered were the pork buns, yum! The bokchoy, chow mein and bbq ribs were much less than we expected. The signature pot sticker like dumplings, in various flavors were good and the limited amount of sauce provided was excellent. The three other dishes…sorry I can’t remember their names were somewhat forgettable. Yes, we enjoy a good meal and the seven of us agreed we’ll try another place in the futureMore

We chanced on going to dim sum this morning. After all, the start of a new lunar year always brings crowds to restaurants. We were seated quickly by a smiling receptionist. Our orders came in a timely manner. The tofu skin wrap was still steaming...as the server laid it on the table. The three pieces were wrapped neatly and the filling was just the right texture and flavor. The giant clams with vermicelli is one of our favorites. It was also steaming when it arrived. The sauce was just right, not too thick or overpowering. It dressed the noodles and the clams perfectly. The shiu mai is a staple. But at Koi, they are even better. The pieces of shrimp and pork are distinct and flavorful, unlike other places where the filling is so mushed up, you can’t tell what you’re eating. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves are a must in this place. No where is it done so elegantly. The pieces of meat, salted egg, mushrooms, etc. are generous. The rice is cooked properly, meaning, the grains are still distinct and not a mushy paste. Sooo good! Perfect on a cold day. The pea shoots were cooked just right, as was the Chinese broccoli. The roast duck pas particularly meaty and flavorful with the semi sweet red beans under them. We took home some baked pork buns. Those were great too! What a meal! I’d go back there in a heartbeat.More

The universal component of all the dished was grease and excess oil. The Peking style duck was greasy and the skin a soft oily piece of paper. Nothing had a distinctive taste. Flavors were lost under a coating of oil. Having eaten in restaurants in...China, and in NYC and SF, this is definitely a slippery slope covered in oil. As for masks, you had to have one to enter the dining area, but once seated, masks off all around. And if you forgot yours, no paper masks available.More

There are other restaurants in the Bay Area that are just as good and have better decor and views, but this restaurant remains one of the best for dim sum. We came on a weekday shortly before the door opened at 11 and there was...already a line forming at the door of people waiting to get in. The food was great. Price is slightly more expensive than average but is in line with other restaurants of the same calibre.More

Visited this restaurant dozens of time. It used to be spectacular, creative, unique and well executed. Now the execution is down, way down. Cost cutting I guess. Service was never a strong point nor the cleanest. It hasn't change.

This is the most authentic Chinese food I have ever eaten in this country. When we got seated we looked around to see that we were surrounded by Chinese diners all speaking in their native tongue. Frankly, from soup to dessert, everything was wonderful. Even...the skeptics among us were won over. Do yourself a favor and eat there.More

Our local friends highly recommended that we go to Koi Palace for an authentic Chinese dinner even by Hong Kong standards. We were a little bit apprehensive when we arrived at the door of a very messy reception surrounded by huge fish tanks. The service...however was welcoming despite the size of the place which was just wall to wall diners. The fish (a small garouper) recommended was steamed to perfection with the meat still attached to the bone. The roast duck (half) tasted better than most served in Asia with loads of meat and a crispy skin. The other dishes included friend Chinese kale (gai lan) and friend rice with conpoy and egg white were both excellent and pure Cantonese at its best. It is not a cheap restaurant despite its location but deserves a 5 star rating for the food if not for the atmosphere.More

The restaurant was located on Gerrert Boulevard, Daly City, CA. It was a very famous Chinese restaurant awarded by Michelin. Tables were always occupied very early after opening hours. Pecking Duck set was good and reasonable but services were not so friendly and attentive.

We were very disappointed with Koi Palace in Daly City, SF. We expected this to be a treat for the family. We picked a banquet style dinner consisting of Birds nest soup, Peking duck, abalone, crab, veggies and so on. Some of the dishes were...okay, but overall, it was sloppy. They were disorganized. The servers ran around disoriented as though they don’t quite know what to do. The service was bad. We had to flag the waitress several times to get what we need. Our waitress was rude and lacked knowledge of what’s included in our banquet.. We didn’t know if we had enough greens in our banquet, so we ordered two additional orders of pea shoots. Then when our banquet was being served, I noticed we had a lot of pea shoots already in one of our dishes. When I complained to her about not letting us know. She was rude basically telling us ‘how do I know what you want’ My nephew asked for a high chair for his baby. He was ignored. He asked a second time just to be told ‘go ask someone else’ My whole family learned to never eat dinner at Koi Palace. Although they do have great dim sum for lunch.More

We were there for a banquet luncheon. The menu was superb and the food was out of this world delicious. It does get crowded, and the parking lot is small. But aside from parking and the full to capacity restaurant, the Koi Palace lives up...to its reputation as a great Chinese restaurant.More

No hot pot. Dim sum during the day. You might be able to get a few selections of dim sum at dinner time if you ask; it all depends on how much was unsold during lunch time.
