Disappointing experience! The bread wasn't fresh, and the seasoning was not impressive and the whole ambiance is not attractive. We ordered: 1)Bodinjon Roasted eggplant topped w/ garlic yogurt, dry mint & served w/ afghan bread - it is half of a whole eggplant probably baked in the oven or cooked. 2) Chaplee Kabob (Spicy) Beef patties‏ mixed w/ green onion,... The best kabobs ever! Whenever we are in the East Bay area we stop by to pick up an order to go. The food is that amazing. We have a picky teenager, but he knows this place and likes their cooking a lot. The beef kabobs are the best in my opinion. The jasmine rice gives the perfect flavor to... More

This restaurant has very good food and has many good dishes. What I recommend and order always is 1. Qabuli Pulao which is rice mixed with meat, raisins and covered with julienned carrots. 2. Chaplee Kabob: these are grilled beef patties mixed with green onion, eggs, and some great seasonings. The rest of the food is also very good but... More

We can just join in with other reviews - the grilled lamb is our favorite, with brown long grain rice. Start with the traditional yogurt/chopped cucumber drink, and finish off with a glass of hot black tea. Add to that, a very friendly and helpful service.

A quaint small Afghani Restaurant with home style cooking of original flavours that hit you as soon as you enter the room causing you to salivate before the menu is placed before you. Being the first time to have eaten Afghani food we were anxious as to what we would enjoy but our server, Abdul gave helpful hints both as... More

De Afghanan delivered to its rating. This is certainly a meat focused Kebob restaurant, so the veggies didn't stand out. The meat was flavorful and not dried out. What stood out was the busy yet attentive servers and the quaint atmosphere.

very tasty and authentic food. their lamb and beef kabobs were outstanding. So were the rice and the the lamb shank. Staff is friendly. They need to improve the quality of the tap water served and filter it before serving. The place is a little under-managed - they allow to bring alcohol but do not have glasses. But if you... More

A very nice place, the Lamb kabobs are great so are mantu and Phirni. The service is courteous but the place gets real busy and expect to wait for 15-20 minutes on busy days,They also have a take out joint nearby serving the same food. The price is moderate.

The breads, the vegetable dishes (the spinach!), the rice, the poultry and meats, and even the baklava, too. Superb! Excellent service and love that open kitchen, too. Nice to watch the artist(s) at work....

Summary: Great food, slow/busy (but not bad) service, go early in the evening 5 or 6 pm. The food here was amazing, the kitchen was moving fast, but there was only 2 waiters on the floor, and they also took care of everything else so the food to table service was lacking. I was raised in an English family, so... More
