Half moon Bay and it's coastal area are one our favorite locations to spend a day. Cafe Capistrano was a new find for us and our group of three loved it. The restaurant specializes in Yucatan (Mayan) cuisine. It also has burgers, sandwiches, breakfast items and are also known for their fish taco's. We were there early on a Monday... More

Quick trip to Half Moon Bay one evening. Found this restaurant on Yelp and so glad we decided to stop in. There were some locals there that night - all asking about the fish tacos. So we ordered the fish tacos - best I've had in a long time. Fish perfectly cooked. We had nachos too. They have the best... More

We were on our way from San Francisco to Santa Cruz and decided to stop for brunch. This place was delicious. I got the Yucatan Eggs which came with beans, guacamole, eggs, peppers, potatos and tortillas and it was amazing. My husband got the Chorizo and Eggs and loved his as well. I generally do not like Chorizo but was... More

I didn't find this place -- some friends from the Santa Cruz area had heard about it, and took me there after they picked me up from a conference at the nearby Ritz-Carlton resort. The location is an old, rather small house, near the point where a neighborhood meets a commercial/industrial area. Were it not for another restaurant-in-a-house a few... More

We visited this restaurant in late September. The first sign that this might not be the best place to eat was when ordering our drinks. They don't serve margaritas, which we found surprising for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered soft drinks, and the server just puts the cans on the table with no offer of even cups of ice. The food... More

We had the best fish tacos we have ever tasted for dinner last night at Cafe Capistrano. We loved them so much, we ate there again for lunch today. We highly recommend the restaurant.

We were a family of 5 who went over for breakfast post a drive to the beach at Half Moon Bay. It was a wet rainy morning so we chose to sit indoors although there was outdoor seating. It was a homely kind of place with wonderful friendly service. The omelettes were good and there was variety from which to... More

Off the beaten path in Half Moon Bay but worth the extra block or two off of Main St. Fresh fish tacos, shrimp fajitas and a great family-owned vibe.

On a drive from SF to Monterey. The few spots right on Route 1 were crazy mobbed at lunch time - but fortunately this spot was listed with great reviews and is just off the highway so had a table for 7 awaiting. Glad we went - homestyle authentic Mexican. And an amazing value for a tasty lunch.

I ordered the fish taco and it was absolutely the best, fresh and generous. Enough for 2 people! The garnishes were so good - some cabbage salad, tomato pico de gallo, papaya, fresh lime, avocado, and the sides of rice and beans very tasty. I was impressed with the service. Arturo himself is a gentleman and very helpful if you... More

Established in 2001 Cafe Capistrano is a family owned restaurant specializing in Mayan cuisine. Using the freshest local fish, meats and produce infused with Mayan flavors results in light, savory combinations.Chef and owner Arturo Mul reigns from the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. When opening his restaurant, he wanted to introduce the flavors and food from his home town, Akil. Mul brought in family recipes to help create the menu and special items. Mayan cooking shows influences from Mediterranean Europe, the Middle East, and the rest of Mexico as well as North and South America.
