We had a lovely meal in the bar here. Staff were very friendly and helpful, our little dog was welcome and the food and drink was splendid. We thoroughly recommend and will be back!

Dear camerashy2013 Many thanks for your recent review. We are pleased you enjoyed what you ate but disappointed to learn that you felt there was little choice and strange combinations. We have a locally sourced modern menu with interesting combinations with several main courses starting from £13, together with a daily changing specials board. In addition, at lunch times there... Knew we would be in the area as staying close by and a friend recommended this place for dinner. Well we were extremely impressed by the whole evening, great service, food to match and overall a fantastic evening! Will definitely be returning, hope the specials will be as good as the ones we had tonight!!

Visited the George and Dragon last week for a catch up with friends.Sadly it was a very disappointing meal. The food was at best lukewarm, certainly not hot. The portions in general were tight and in particular the chicken and hake dishes were small and all the menu prices very high. We finished off with coffee which we sent back... More

This was my second visit. I stayed here this time en route to Scotland and it's very convenient for the M6 motorway. My starter was air dried ham croquetas followed by pork loin. Both were great. Sweet potato too but unnecessary and over filled me somewhat. My service was fine but the table next door seemed to moan a bit... More

We've been visiting the G&D for about 7 years and want to really love it. It's a lovely, cosy pub with a good atmosphere. But, the experience is never quite right. It's quite pricey, the menu's good, the food locally sourced from the estate so it should all stack up, right? Wrong. We've had poor service; steaks not cooked correctly;... More

A favourite dining place for both lunch and dinner. Always a friendly welcome and great food. The dog normally accompanies us in the bar. Added advantage of having 3 great real ales.

Love this place and it just seems to get better, just wish it was a bit closer to home. Great for good steaks, not surprising as the owners rear the beef themselves. Open kitchen so we can watch the food being cooked, chefs looked surprisingly cool as on our visit it was a very busy evening. Lovely atmosphere, polite professional... More

This place was recommended to us and we have to say the chef knew what he was doing with the food, tasty and well cooked. However it was totally ruined by the conciliatory, insincere manner of the man in charge. His only interest was a party of 9 who were drinking wine etc like fish. The ambience of the place... More

Dear Jasper491 Many thanks for your review following your visit for dinner on Friday 28th October. We are really very sorry to learn of your disappointment and your feeling that more attention was being given to a group on a larger table who were dining at the same time. We are very proud of the numerous positive reviews we have... More
