I wondered where I was going when we met friends for lunch at The Jackalope Ranch, Indio. This restaurant was a mishmash of different styles from the huge bronze ‘Babe’ pigs in the carpark, the Jackalopes and wooden motorbike at reception to the waterfall and statues and fruit trees in the garden area. We sat in the garden and were... More

When you evaluate a restaurant you consider ambiance, service, food preparation and quality, and perhaps cost. This place was an outrage!...overpriced is sometimes ok when the previous categories are excellent. This place had a lovely setting, but in the other categories it was a case study in ineptitude. From no waiter attention to a kitchen that is incapable of "getting... More

The Chop House is a steakhouse within the larger Jackalope Ranch on Route 111 in Indio. The setting and concept are very promising, even if the reality was suffering from some start up pains. Prices are every bit as high as other local steakhouses. Perhaps management should have started with more moderate prices across the board to establish the Chop... More

We recently had visitors in from Brooklyn and were excited to take them to what we knew was a beautiful desert setting and what we thought was a great steak house. From start to finish this was an embarrassing experience. We expected high prices but thought the food and service would be commencerite. The requested well done filet mignon was... More

Where did all the service go? After a midday hike, we stopped in for late lunch. A steady stream of customers joined us. Other people got water. Not us. Other people's drink orders were delivered. Not ours. Other people's food arrived. Not ours. Thirty five minutes with no evidence of intelligent life in our restaurant host's universe. Can't rate the... More

Staying with our friends in Palm Springs and they wanted to take us to the Jackalope Ranch. We were so impressed with this beautiful restaurant! Its not only beautiful to look at but the food is excellent. Try the shrimp tacos and the BBQ pork sliders-yummy!! Great service, excellent food, and a beautiful setting.

I would love to have reviewed this place but I can't. Not even a glass of water after 45 minutes. We left.

Check in pointed that we could go look and see if there was a spot in the bar or outside- like we knew where that was. Waitress couldn't have cared less about our experience or time here. She barely slowed down as she passed the table, and no, they weren't busy. Sorry Veronica- you're terrible.

Beautiful setting but really poor service. Four of us went for a casual lunch. We were seated quickly and given a menu. My napkin had a food stain and was quickly changed. Then we waited and waited. Finally got a chance to order drinks, then waited and waited. Drinks finally arrived and we were ready to order. We waited and... More

One of the most beautiful places I have ever dined. The outside is filled with water falls and lush green plants/trees. The orange and lemon trees were amazing. The food was superb and the staff very helpful and gracious. Some of the prices were higher than I usually would pay but the atmosphere coupled with surrounding made it all worth... More
