Great food and friendly service. We ate at the location on Monroe Street. It was busy, but got in without a reservation.

Really delicious Mexican home cooking! The Mexicali especial with strips of steak and grilled cactus was excellent as were the mariscos. Great atmosphere too and child friendly. Don't let situation right by railroad track put you off. It's well worth a visit.

I was skeptical and instincts proved correct. Food lacked flavor. Too much lard in beans, too much egg on relleno, shredded beef had zero flavor and their signature item, the shrimp filled chile was an overcooked mess.

I am glad we decided to try them again....we loved the food but not the service on the last try. This time we tried items on the menu that we didn't the first time. Cerviche!!!!!!!!wonderful. The chile rellanos (sorry about the spelling) were some of the best I've had. The service was quick, welcoming and attentive. Sometimes, another try is... More

We decided on a Mexican lunch after a morning of glass crafting at the local Art Center. Our instructor and new friend joined us. THe server was Mexican and was marginal in English but sweet and accommodating. FOod came quickly and was delicious. I am from the East Coast so authentic Mexican is hard to come by. This was a... Those shrimp stuffed peppers are out of this world delicious. Restaurant gets super crowded, but well worth the wait.

Went for dinner- excellent food, great portion size, good price. Service was fantastic, nice people. Had the beef enchiladas and chilli rellenos, short ribs with cactus, and shredded beef soft tacos. Huge fried ice cream dessert. So tasty

True and authentic Mexican. If you are Chipotle kind of person , don't come here. But if you like true authentic Mexican food, don't loom any further.

My family and I were driving from Cali home to Arizona and stopped for a bite to eat, we saw great reviews for this place and so glad we made the stop! The staff was so friendly and easy going, and the food was great! The chile gueritos were delicious. I wish we had the restaurant in AZ!!

Description
We specialize in serving authentic Mexican food from secret family recipes, including seafood specialties, plus cocktails from a full bar!

Our Chiles Gueritos are a popular local favorite - shrimp stuffed yellow peppers topped with mayo and soy sauce. Our restaurant offers a unique dining experience that's just like eating at home with family and friends. The "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" of the trains passing by on the train tracks behind us is also something you'll never forget!

Opened in 1981, El Mexicali Cafe on Indio Blvd. Is one of the longest-running woman-owned eateries in the Coachella Valley. El Mexicali Cafe Day was establishes on March 19 in the City of Indio, and you can typically count on something special at the restaurant to celebrate the occasion.
