I first went to the one in Beverly Hills. Never was impressed. This is in a touristy area and they are super expensive. All the markets within two blocks - and there are 3-4 - sell all kinds of ice cream. Unless you're locked into this process, I would pass.

A limited flavour selection. Nicely presented and not overly priced. The coffee ice cream could have had a stronger flavour and where was the pistachio?

Cold Stone Creamery is a chain, but it is really good ice cream. There is some seating inside and some outside. The location is great, it is right at the start of The Square, which is the start of the Venice Beach area. They will take your ice cream and smash it with all manner of candy or sprinkles, or... I was in the east coast during some cold weather. Ended up eating cold stone there so you can imagine in a perfect summer weather how much would i have loved it in LA. try the dark chocolate. The shakes are like a meal.

Cold Stone is a welcome sight on any warm day. Put one in a location like this and it's bound to succeed. The ice cream varieties change frequently. The number of possible combinations can be mind-boggling. I opted for a small cup of half Oreo Cream Filling and half Coffee flavored ice cream, topped off with a Butterfinger segment. It... More

Worth paying for as they will mix just about anything for you. We had a strawberry vanilla mix up and it was very nice, a small one shared between two is just about right!

There are so many different types of ice cream and mix in. My favorite's are Oreo Overload and Coconut Pie.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
