Not my cup of tea at all!! Very old school restaurant style. Dingy, dark, outdated and unoriginal. Service was fantastic thats about it. Food was marginal nothing special at all. And my usual pet peeve, the coffee sucked. Once again very high priced restaurant and cheap coffee!! There are many other great places to go!!! Message me I will suggest... More

Visited A Restaurant on a Saturday night with a 7:30pm reservation. I had not been to this establishment since the late 1990's when it was "The Arches". The look has not changed although it feels more crowded than it did 20-year ago. It is a 4-star place and the prices reflect that. The food was phenomenal and the service was... More

From the outside, one would think A Restaurant was a diner; it is anything but! The atmosphere is very dark, with bordello like red lighting. The music is updated Sinatra-style. We sat at the bar, which was very comfortable, and sported the restaurant's only TV. The crowd on early Sunday night was older (50+). The dress was relaxed. This all... More

Formerly the time tested ARCHES, A's has been doing it right and the same way for some 8+ years now. although the dining rooms as luxe and cozy we still prefer the lively bar. the Block Cut New York is my favorite and this week it did not disappoint. only down side is the $$$ but then again, this is... The restaurant itself needs some serious updating since the interior is very very old. The drinks were solid and the appetizers and entrees were very good. The desserts were fairly tasteless but the overall experience was very very good. The bar scene is lively and worth checking out....

A friend from LA picked the restaurant as I was visiting Newport Beach and drove down to meet me at the restaurant. Read the website and some reviews and was looking forward to the experience. I arrived early and waited at our table for about 20 minutes at which point I realized that this place is just too dark and... More

We couldn't tell what flavor what flavor the salad dressing was and it just got worse from there. . It looked like the other customers were putting away so much booze that they probably could tell what they were eating. . . Would never go back under any conditions!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to second everything Foodie21 said plus... 1. Try their New York steak. It's very different than the New York cuts you are probably accustomed to. (Imagine a filet mignon - only cut from the short loin.) Hands down, this is the best steak I have ever had. 2. When ordering sides, one order is sufficient for two, maybe... More

This is a Newport Beach landmark that had a near death experience and was resurrected a few years ago by some local investors. It is not much to look at from the outside and the inside is dark and clubby with big, oversized red leather booths. What you will find here is a small menu of very competently prepared beef... This place feels like a cozy East Coast treasure. While not inexpensive, the food and drinks are reasonably priced, given their quality and the impeccable service offered. They've been in business since forever, and it's safe to say there's much more to come.
