It was slightly cool on the beach, and they provide blankets. The artichoke appetizer is 3 artichoke halves grilled with a wonderful salty spice. The fish and chips were fresh and crispy; moist on the inside and crisp crust. The chicken salad sandwich is really tasty. The fresh bread was toasted and I might have preferred it a bit softer,... Top shelf food. Service is hit or miss but usually very good. After May the plastic comes down and the view is excellent out to sea. There are tons of little cottages surrounding the restaurant.

This place is a gem. My husband and I went for the Crystal Cove beach, which is small but wonderful, with the added mystery of old abandoned cottages that were once a set for Hollywood movies. It's sort of eerie to consider, but very interesting. We stayed for dinner at the Beachcomber Cafe, and literally walked from the beach sand... More

As others have stated, I'd recommend getting a reservation through Open Table, especially if going for breakfast on the weekend. Also, make sure to plan enough time to park at the top of the hill and take the shuttle bus ($1.50 per person) down to the restaurant in the state park. The food was very good and make sure to... Friends have commented about how nice of an experience The Beachcomber Cafe is, so I had to try it out. We went here on a Sunday for dinner and while the view is fantastic, the overall experience left me feeling wanting more. First, it is not easy to get to the cafe, you need to part across Pacific Coast Highway... More

Fantastic setting, great food and great service. However, if you show up without a reservation, be prepared to wait. We made reservations for a Tuesday at 1:15 PM and we were seated promptly. Others, without reservations were being quoted wait times of over an hour. I can't imagine what the wait time would be on the weekends. My wife loves... More

Food and service are very good. Parking can be tricky so worth investigating in advance and understanding options. Fund outdoor seating and warm indoor with heat lamps as needed. They have it covered for a great experience in the cove.

If you’re traveling the Pacific Coast Hwy, a good place to start is Crystal Cove and The Beachcomber (restaurant) for breakfast. In fact, I know of at least two excellent restaurants just off the PCH with the best breakfasts in America, one in southern California, the other in northern California: Howard’s Station Café in Occidental, north of San Francisco and... Beautiful walk to a great breakfast. I would recommend! It is very busy-we had 45 minute wait on Sunday at 10:00 am.

Thought we would stop in for a drink but ended up with a table for drinks and a late lunch. Could not have been a better experience. Fun location, warm service, awesome bloody mary's!
