Was visiting Joya with my friend, the other day. We ate half of the plates on the menu, mostly seafood and vegetarian and enjoyed every part of it! Drank the most awesome Sangria and loved it! Actually, I think it was the best one I ever had!! The atmosphere is rich, the design of the place is luxurious and the... More

We had a management team dinner here in their private dining room, but while we all felt that the entrance through the backdoor in a dark alley almost made us shy away, the absolutely amazing food and top notch service made up for that, and during dinner we forgot that detail. We had three allergies which unfortunately weren't notified in... More

Below mediocre restaurant. I'll start with the pros: ambiance was great, very lively on Friday night. location is very central, right on university avenue. The restaurant has big front windows which they keep wide open when it's warm so you can sit inside but feel the buzz of the street, very pleasant. Service was ok, we were seated immediately with... It was my first time in Palo Alto my cousin took me to all the beautiful places around this area then we decided to have an early dinner and my eyes took me here at Joya . We wanted to sit outside so they seated us where we wanted to be seated;) . The paella was divine & the soft... More

Generally the food is delicious and combinations of flavors are interesting. Once in awhile something goes awry in the kitchen. However that's so rare that we eat here often. The steak sandwich is fabulous. I have never had a bad soup. Today's gazpacho was the best one I've ever had. Server's are always friendly and helpful.

A great evening with friends and great staff - knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, quick to fix and replenish a spilled glass. The albondigas stood out for their savory comfort and the calamari was light and enjoyable as were the cocktails but some of the dishes were bland (the sauce for the sea bass in particular though the fish itself... Having just been to Spain last week, I walked into Joya thinking I would relive joy of eating so much phenomenal tapas in and around Madrid. Joya over promises and under delivers. It is a good bar and hangout but don't go hear for its tapas. Everything I ordered was over salted, greasy, and cooked in the same oil. They... More

Delicious food with service to match. The hostess was able to get us a spot in the bar area even though the restraunt was full. We feasted on tapas and sangria while waiting for a table to open up, which it quickly did. Our waiter was outstanding. The paella is excellent.

Best tapas in Palo Alto. The highlights were the guacamole and plantain chips, pink taro and spinach croquetas and grilled artichoke in pinto bean dip. Delicious!

We met some friends for dinner and ordered smalls plates and entrees. The small plates are more like appetizers presented in small plates. We ordered a variety of crab cakes, braised short rib tacos, kobe beef mini burgers and scallops, they were all delicious. The entrées of hanger steak was good but the salmon was bland. Their flan and warm... More
