Recently visited Baumé for lunch and had an amazing meal. Food is deserving of their multiple Michelin stars, and the décor and service make it a unique experience. The restaurant is surprisingly dark, even during lunch the curtains completely block outside light. There's a hanging light for each table that illuminates the food and table however that made for good... More

Very nice food, well worth the Michelin star. Strange entree: very dark. Only 3 tables in the "main" dining room and 2 extra tables alongside the bar. Downside is the drinks: you can only have the wine pairing (or: multiple glasses of 1 of the wines in the pairing), which will cost 200$ for 4 glasses of good wine, and... More

$1400 for two people for dinner eating pine needles and tofu even though they are shaped like olives is a scam. The value of the food actually consumed by each individual is probably about $20. Yes, the chef is an artist and the presentation of the tiny dishes is innovative and requires a lot of skill. Taste is something else.... More

Because this restaurant had two-Michelin stars, my family and I decided to try it out. Although we have eaten in several restaurants with at least two Michelin stars, we were very shocked with the exorbitant price ($280/person; with the cheapest wine pairing, approximately $500/person total). Commis charges $119/person, Atelier Crenn $220/person, The Restaurant at Meadowood $225/person, Benu $248/person, etc... So... More

Baume is a very small restaurant run by a husband(chef) and his wife(service). All courses were very good. This is a culinary experience not just a restaurant. Our dinner took about two hours. There are a few wine pairings to choose from. We did not do the wine pairings because most of the wines were white and we prefer red.... More

Thanks to my friend, Henri I had the privilege to discover this place. Now, I'm passing on the recommendation to everyone who appreciates the art of cooking. Don't go to the Baumê if you are looking for the best steak in town. You want to be in the mood to discover new things. Bruno Chemel is an artist whose way... More

Me and my hubby went here. Loved it. Modern French cuisine at it´s best. We had the tasting menu which included 6 courses. Things we tried were Sous Vide Beef which was a highlight. Good creative wine list. Good place for those foodies serious about their food.

I don't really know what to say about this place. It's a disservice to call it fancy or special or innovative -- it's much more than that. It isn't actually like eating a meal at a restaurant. I went with my mom for a special birthday lunch... we are two "seasoned" restaurant-goers, and this was an absolute first for both... More

This is a foodies' restaurant! And the food is exceptional. The wine pairings are very expensive and only so-so at best; one of our wines had turned (OK, that can happen to anyone). Wine by the glass was $35. Seriously, they need a wine steward who is familiar with California wines and mark them up 2-2.5 times retail if they... More

It's hard to find truly creative high-end dining in the Bay Area (despite its reputation) but intimate, tucked-away little Baume never disappoints. Service is top-notch, pairings are on point, cuisine is inventive and joyous. If you're a true foodie, don't miss it.
