I went here for lunch with family including an 8 year old grandson. I decided to stick with what Duartes is famous for and had the Artichoke -green chilies soup that comes with bread and then the berry pie. There was a delay in getting the grandson's burger out but the service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about... More

We went to eat here after staying at the pigeon point hostel about 20 min away. It is a local landmark. The food is ok. Be sure to go to the deli down the street and get fresh artichoke bread.

We ate at Duarte's Tavern this morning, arriving there completely by accident. We had pulled into town for a cup of Joe and then thought it might be nice to find a little place to sit down and have some breakfast. We asked a very nice, older lady if she could recommend a restaurant, and she pointed out Duarte's Tavern... More

Sunday in jeans. Nice light in the sky. Maybe there is a spring or fall chill in the air, or maybe it is summer swelter on the peninsula. Whatever triggers it, I am not sure. But those are the days that we jump in my husband's latest vehicle and do the drive over the foothills to Duartes. Our route often... More

We passed this place on the way south from San Francisco on a misty wet day. It was nice to warm up with a bowl of clam chowder. I also had the locally caught flounder sandwich - the fish was very nice. My wife had the fish tacos which were also good. There's a wide range of choice for all... More

Expensive meal. Encouraged to get the crab sandwich. It was served on wonderbread and the crab was served, flaked, like tuna fish and with mayo. Not what we were expecting. The service was slow, and in the end not worth waiting over an hour for.

We were visiting the coast and needed a lunch stop. The food was very nondescript. My $11.50 bowl of cream of artichoke soup was bland. My wife thought that her $9.00 bowl of manhattan clam chowder was pretty good. We also ordered sandwiches. The grilled cheese was vary basic with some sort of singles slices of cheese. The linguica sandwich... More

We have been to Duartes many times over the last 20 years. It has a great history, has substance, atmosphere and a rustic, country vibe to it from the past. Unfortunately, it has apparently lost its way and uses its history to attract patrons. The food you receive is average at best but it charges high prices - way too... More

I've been coming to Duarte's for years, meeting up with friends for soup, bread and pie. (I'm vegetarian, so I can't speak to their other food items.) My favorite soup is the green chile. The artichoke is quite tasty as well and for those who can't decide, you can do two in a bowl. Delicious. The soup comes with terrific... More

We have been coming here for pie since 1979. When my friends and I could finally drive we would visit the beach and then have pie and coffee at Duarte's. I don't live in the area anymore, but try to visit every time that I am. It still has the same feel of an authentic diner. The food is good,... More
